100% agree with you here. I have the softcard app on my S5 and it’s a hassle to get it ready to go. The only time I ever use it is when there is a promotion going on that you only get when you use your virtual card. Free Jamba Juice, Coke rewards, etc.
The “extra” safety is silly. There are two situations in which your card number gets stolen.
- Massive data hack. e.g. Target and Home Depot. Doesn’t matter if you used a virtual card or a physical card. They still have your information.
- Card reader or skimmer. Unless you use a debit card, Visa, AMEX, MC, etc. has you covered.
I thought this would suck too, but you don’t even need to open anything. You pull your phone out, touch the home button, and tap the card scanner. True most stores don’t have it, but there are more than I would have guessed.

I haven’t yet but I’ve read several articles and watched a few YouTube demos and it looks ridiculously easy and fast. When you put your phone near the POS sensor your card pops up and you scan your thumbprint. If you don’t want to use your default card you just swipe until the card you do want to use pops up. You don’t even need to unlock your phone.
Stopped off at Walgreens to test this beast out. Worked flawlessly. Definitely faster than pulling out my wallet and fumbling around for a card.

I downloaded the new iOS last night, so I’ll set up Apple Pay later today. Then I’ll find a reason to go to Walgreens.

Ya my ID and cards go in my coat or pant pockets. I hate wallets. And I usually don’t carry cash on me.

That’s kinda how I feel about normal wallets. They make me sit awkwardly and considering I have 4 herniated discs, it hurts. I know there are other ways to go that will be just as small as my wallet, but I happen to like this one. It’s just kinda hard to pull a card out. You need to slide them out and pinch like this:

I love this wallet. It’s made out of titanium and you can pick your design. It takes about 6 weeks to get it though since they’re made to order and only one guy makes them.
I just upgraded from a standard rubber band, you’ve got a fancy one. I have 3 leather wallets sitting around somewhere.

Although I don’t remember them being $34! The wallet itself has stood up to a lot of abuse although I do feel the cards themselves take more of a beating.
So I went with a clear Case-Mate for my new phone. I didn’t want to ruin the Plus’s good looks, so I thougt this did the least damage.

Nice! Yeah it’s a big upgrade. I almost bought that case but went with one that’s very similar. The main difference being the surrounding edge of the phone is a black rubber. Honestly, I don’t have the most confidence in the case. Mostly if it’s a face down direct hit though and then I think the screen will be screwed even with the ballistic glass screen protector. But I have insurance for the phone and I haven’t dropped it yet, knock on wood, which is pretty good for me. Although it was probably because my 4s was so small lol. I don’t think I ever dropped my Note 3 either.
^^ good point about the direct hit scenario. My case probably wouldn’t help if something like that happened.
I shld insure the phone. Can I do that through AT&T, post-purchase?
Not sure about AT&T. I have t-mobile and just called the day I got it and had them switch it over to this phone.
