New to me B8

Just paid for a 2010 S4, Grey, today. Picking it up tomorrow or Monday, only 56k km on it. I will post some pics once I have it home. It is the replacement for my wife who is driving a 01 stage 3 allroad. Time for some out with the old and in with the new

Get some pix up…your actually one of thr few level headed b5 guys out there…I would love to hear your thought between the b5 s4 and b8 s4…

I will give you a full comparo once I pick the B8 up. I did end up selling my Imola B5, which left me with a stock black B5 TIP that will also be going. We are really excited about a car that won’t leave us high and dry we we need it most, although I do love the 2.7t for it’s abilities, the constant neediness of the platforms utilizing them have finally driven us to move on.

Welcome to the B8 platform. Any plans to mod?

APR stage 2 was worked out between the wife and I, so just that so far

Should we expect some sort of wicked single turbo kit?

Haha, nope. I just want fast and reliable

I thunk most people know the b5 has been dead for several years now…guys running 40lbs of boost breaking motors trying to run crazy amouts of race gas boost w/m to barely be faster then a stage 2 b8 S4…when they chuna ebay kids take over the platform all advancement ends the same day…with the new results of the b8 and v8 cars the guys trying to prop up the b5 with bs just had to give in…

Really cant wait to hear your thoughts on the b8 amd then the b8 with thr apr stage 2…

I hear ya, I still have my project big turbo a6, money pit if I want 40lbs of boost

Ha I hadn’t thought of replacing my wife for a B8, I’d consider a GT3 maybe…

Congrats on the ride either way…DSG or 6mt? I’d been through the same car progression as you it seems.

Too funny. Actually she is my second wife and I wouldn’t trade her for anything, I would’ve traded my first wife for part ownership of a Yugo

DSG, Meteor Grey, Sport Diff

lol @ Yugo

Picked it up yesterday, very impressed with the raw acceleration, even in stock form. The DSG will take a bit of getting used to, the 10my is a lot more harsh between N-1 and 1-N than the 13my I test drove. Oh well, at least I have a full 4 additional years of 5 star warranty for when shit starts to break.

I’ll give it a wash and snap some pics later today, oddly enough I have been busy showing cars for sale so far this weekend, 2 looking at the S4 this morning/early aft, another looking at my URS4 early this morning and 2 others to see the allroad this aft/evening. Looks like I may be free of my 2.7t issue sooner than expected

1 week of ownership so far

Thoughts-

Very capable right out of the box, the suspension is miles ahead of the b5’s and b6’s i have owned and driven.

Motor provides great down low torque, although it does fall somewhat flat above 4.5k IMO, I am positive a tune and pulley will help rectify that.

Wife is equally at home behind the wheel, so nice that she can drive in Auto, getting 8L/100km , then I can jump in a beat it sideways through a round about without changing a thing

No regrets on dumping the B5/C5’s, still trying to decide which exhaust and intake to choose, looking for an exhaust with a lower note but won’t drone, I am not a big fan of the raspy bark some of the systems seem to provide.

The big news is that my wife is on board with Accuair suspension this spring, it will serve 2 purposes.
1-allow for driving on level 3 above what is currently stock ride height to maneuver through our unplowed Calgary side roads
2-allow for lowered car and performance oriented spring rates while summer driving

Have to love the factory tune bleeding boost.

I would stay stock exhaust and get some kind of open element intake.

The exhausts that exist seem to not really create performance and cost 2000-3000 dollars. Might make it a bit louder. If you like a v6 sound exhaust could be a good fit.

If I owned a b8 I would get open intake, pulley, tune, lw rotating parts and be a proper cue ship. To me a louder v6 does not make it sound better so I may be different.

I am kind of leaning toward a modified stock exhaust, a couple of improvements to the center resonator section and it would deepen the tone.

I am not so sure on the open element intake, I really don’t love the supercharger whine that the Roc-Euro presents, so I may end up with the APR Carbonio which is a little more tame IMO

Either way, I will drive it stock for a couple of weeks, have to wait for my pulley upgrade to arrive before getting a tune.

You want it open because its a restriction.
Have you heard a couple of cars with different intakes?

Maybe see if there’s a local meet happening. I didn’t find any of them too big of a deal.

There is a local car that just ordered the Roc Euro, I will be able to hear it in person, another local has the awe s flo. I didn’t know it was that big of a restriction, I will have to look a little deeper I guess

^^ Sound aside, the fastest B8s run an open element intake like the Roc Euro. I’m running the Carbonio but have been thinking about switching for a while now. Maybe before the track season.
