Roc Euro intake ordered today, picked up my Porsche coolant and oil caps last night, full xpel front end coverage finished this afternoon. Last official Audi warranty service is scheduled Monday, then it is off to Ecuprogram for dyno tuning Tuesday. The cost of the tuning is enough of a deal to give it a shot, they will be recording the entire tuning process including original output, then I will see what results I can get at the strip this spring. Also my shifter extensions arrived and we’re installed today (thanks primetime)
I will see what I can line up Saki, but it has been solidly in the -20’s for the last week and a half, not too many volunteers to do any friendly pulls, although I do have a friend that is Revo tuned 6mt that would be into it. I may look into a Vbox sport, prices are low enough now that they are feasible.
Jake- Thanks, I am really enjoying the new platform
Just a quick note, had a chance to do a pull with a b5 s4 stage 3, he was/is only running 16psi, results, B8 stomps the B5 off the line, roll ons the B5 inches away, about 1 car between 100-200km.
I will have a chance to meet up with this same guy next Thursday after my tune and we can see what is what
how much is a vbox sport? I thought they were about the same as a pbox
On the sport can you still create files for the proper computer software or is it just the phone output? And is it still just iPhone (aka 13% and shrinking of global smartphones)?
Saki- the sport still saves the file on an SD card/capable of SD card logging. Jones sent me his data and I was able to open on Perf Tools program with no issues.
I found the $429 from Racelogic USA, I would guess that with shipping/brokerage/taxes I will be close to the same as what I would pay here, If I buy local I don’t have to worry about shipping it off for warranty if something fails, it would be on the shop to do so (or at least that has been there policy in the past)
I took my S4 in for it’s final Audi checkup before taking it to get tuned, unfortunately it turns out it has a failing HPFP, to boot my aftermarket warranty as sold is not available, so the claim has been denied.
The dealer I bought from is stepping up and dealing with the issue, but in light of these issues I have requested that he try to put me in one of the CPO’ed cars on his lot, namely a 2011 with 23k km.
Not sure how everything will pan out, I may keep this car but with a different warranty (difference paid by dealer) or I may swap up a year and less KM for virtually nothing in on my end. Until I hear back, I am in the dark
That would be a crazy best case…take your car in for inspection get a newer car…smart move on getting the car checked out that could have been a expensive stage 2 disaster…did y9u have any signs of failing hpfp…nocodes…I wonder how they test that and how many others there are out there that might have thishssame issue
There is more going on in the background with the warranty they “sold” me. Enough that the crazy best case scenario may just happen in order to save face and keep out of court.
I had no codes or signs, other than prolonged starter engagement on 1st start of the day, apparently the first clue was the oil level(obviously) they then drained some of the oil off and tried lighting it, which it apparently did with ease, indicating an abundance of fuel in the oil.
At this point I am just happy that the worst case scenario doesn’t have me shelling out for anything, also very happy that I took it in for a final checkup before modifying it
Fuel in the oil is a quick way to destroy your motor…a little fuel gets into the oil but never enough to light it…you really dodged a death sentence by getting thr inspection done… Can you imagine what would have happened if you modded the car…This is crazy…with these cars getting into the 2nd and 3rd owners now is it maybe a good idea to start a before you mod thread pointing out all the things people should look out for…
It could of/would of been a disaster, I do feel lucky that I took it in for one last service, I honestly wasn’t expecting any issues with a car that I purchased with an inspection report form another local Audi dealership for $40K with less than 35k miles (56k km) on it.
I sure hope that most people take the time to check up on their own vehicles health before making the assumption that no CEL means everything is all right.
So the dealer sold you a warranty, and the first time something came up the warranty said fuck you? THat’s pretty funny. Dealer will hate having to eat shit.
If you buy a $3500 warranty there’s probably $1500 commission in it for the various middlemen.
The dealer (not Audi) sold me the car, we then negotiated the purchase of a 4 star warranty which includes replacement of virtually all parts, inclusive of wear and tear (think VC gaskets, and control arm bushings) specifically named as covered.
2 weeks and 1100kms into ownership and this issue is uncovered at an Audi dealership, Audi contacts the aftermarket warranty company.
Audi is informed by the warranty company that my warranty is not yet active due to the selling dealers non payment on the policy at this point. Furthermore the indicated level of warranty on my BOS is 4+ stars, unfortunately the warranty company does not offer anything higher than a 2 star warranty on a performance/sport models. So the warranty that I was sold does not technically exist, which is moot because the warranty company hasn’t received payment yet anyways so they do not feel obligated to pay.
Obviously my issue is in the fact that I was not notified that my warranty wasn’t active yet and I most likely would never have received a refund on my warranty overpayment, never mind the fact that I wouldn’t buy a used S4 without a comprehensive warranty.
