god help you trying to go downhill lol

damn… I did work-home in a blizzard on my RS3s and that was more than enough lol

A member of my local Audi club snapped this pic at our C&C on Saturday. I was glad to see my ride smack dab in the middle looking pretty good right before it rained.

(too bad that big dork is in the middle of the shot :-\ )

cool. Looks like about 3 pics stitched maybe.

Thanks for posting the link Saki. The pic can be viewed much better by clicking on that.

Those kind of shots make me want to go spend big bucks on a camera and take a photography class.

Forgot this thread existed (it was pushed back to page 6!).

Sure, will do. maybe… if I can get around to it. I posted it on AZ, so should be able to pull it over pretty easily. We just had a baby 6 wks ago, and I have a limited amount of time to spend doing non-family or work activities… plus I have to fix my sway bar and install stiffer rear springs…

I’m super close to buying V710 in 19" gunmetal, but waffling on these questions:

  1. Should I get Forgestars? 8 week wait, complaints on paint quality and more $$
  2. Should I get V718 instead?
  3. Which tires: PS2 or Ventus?
  4. Is gunmetal the right call?

decisions, decisions…

I can’t answer them all but from what I’ve read, stay away from Forgestars (I’ve read some nightmare stories like one guy waiting 6+ months for his and counting. Constant issues, failed quality control, etc.)
PS2 or Ventus. I have the Ventus and they were a decent price but I’m not super happy with them to be honest. Feel like they could be stickier. I haven’t driven on the PS2 but I’d say those instead simply from my experience with the Ventus (don’t get me wrong, they aren’t bad at all, just had higher expectations of them).

Thanks for confirming my fears and saving me the trouble with Forgestar. The weight was tempting, and I saw a pic online of a white B8 Avant with gold F14s that looked sweet, but I don’t care all that much about the weight and I don’t like how the TSW’s look, so I’ll just go VMR, and I’m pretty sure I’ll get Gunmetal. Now just to decide: 718 or 710…

Thanks also for the thoughts on the Hankook vs. PS2. This seems like a toss up depending on who you talk to. I have learned “buy nice or buy twice” the hard way several times now, so will prob just do PS2.

For anyone who’s on the fence about Forgestars, read this entire thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/433355-Anyone-ever-order-Forgestar-wheels

It’s mind boggling how a company can stay in business with service like that.
(And if you’ll notice in one of the posts, some guy claims his buddy weighed them and they were heavier than the advertised weight).

As for the Ventus, I drive my car to the limit and feel they just don’t grip well enough. That said, when they lose their grip, it’s progressive rather than grip grip grip gone. Still, I’ve rarely heard bad things about the PS2s other than their cost but I’ve never tried them.

iirc Dan from JHM had the same issue with the forgestars being over quoted weight

They quote the weight for the et55 wheel…then when your et20. wheel arrives with an inch and a half more hub it weighs more

And they even lie about the et55 weight.

George had some on his rs4 that he bought used off someone who waited forever. They looked awesome and were really light compared to VMR etc

If getting VMR why not consider tsw nurburgring?

VMR have a nice concavity that the TSW don’t have. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I don’t like how the TSW look, somehow look cheap or something…

I figures some pics in the picture thread would be good. I went for a burn tonight and took these along the way. PS my wheels are heavy.

Here’s my post on AZ http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/347839-Upgrading-to-RNS-E-Focal-JL-backup-camera-Alpine-KCE-245i-Passport-9500ci but this was version 1.0. Since then I moved the amps to the passenger side, added an EQ, and installed a 12.5" sub on the driver’s side.

Here’s the new sub:

what’s louder, your exhaust or your system?

Nice pics JPO

great B6 angle here…and using a bit longer lens with some compression effect makes it look awesome.

Thanks Saki, I had lots of time to get the angle right because about a kilometer past this spot the road just ends… Wilderness. So I could basically stand in the middle of the road trying to get the best view and no cars would come along. Pretty nice place to have 1/2 hour from your house.

that’s amazing. What’s the significance of the continental Euro plate?

None really other than I don’t need a provincial front plate and I dig it. Oh, that and it gives cops with laser guns a nice, bright target to pinpoint just how badly I’m behaving.
