Opinion on c6 S6

Hi guys

What would be your opinion on this car? I test drove one last day , I think its a very balance car , very good brakes , ok acceleration ,good cornering speed , interior its very ergonomics I really like it , seats are very good , look perfect ( for me) , the main use will be highway.
The motor, with a couple of mods I think it can do 108-9 mph that would be ok for a highway cruiser.
Problems for this motor? aside from the carbon in the valves?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

I think it is really cool

on the downside it is a bit too big, and a bit too soft and a bit too slow…seems like it should be far crazier with a v10.

We have talked about how a decatted one with a count Vohn tune would be epic though. Never happened on here unfortunately

I have a "growing " family right now 1 little girl and 1 more coming , so for me the size of the car its perfect
I have talk to a friend about the same , decatted the first cats and do a 100 cel mains plus a 3 catback, if I buy this car I will take a deep look into the headers , intake , and a tune…
Let you know this may happen this week…
by the way do you have some pics of the headers of this car?

thanks

Pretty boring car. Handles bad because it’s so heavy, and it’s not fast in a straight line because of the heft. It’s fun for the first couple pulls but then it gets heat-soaked to shit and it feels like a corolla.

Here is my friend’s S6. It’s the one we talked about decatting and putting a Vohn tune on.
Ignore the whistle in the upper rev range. It’s a vacuum leak from a loose IM manifold bolt from when I did a carbon cleaning on it

Look how slow this porker is…

To decat the car you will most likely have to pull the motor. The headers are a 3/2 to 1 design. 3 cylinders get 1 cat, then the other 2 get another cat. There are no secondary cats. You will have to remove the motor to get the headers off to gut the cats.

Hi , thanks for the insight

Remember that its a car for my family ( size) and practically the only use its for highways.
Thanks for sharing the vids , the sound its very nice.
Basically I do not want a SUV ( wife want a x5 diesel or Audi allroad 3.0 TDI, of course the intelligent decision), the S6 match perfect what Im looking for , its not my project or fun car by any means.
I talk to a guy that use to have a 2007 s6 , he basically told me that with a APR tune , milltek catback ( just sound), and drop in K&N he did low 13 and 108 mph with 20 size wheels that its not to bad in my opinion , since from reviews I see in magazines his cars go from 103-4 mph stock.
Thanks .

Can you share some info regarding the exhaust? its sound expectacular ( at least for me)
what was used’?

Thanks for the info , I will remove all the cats if I got the car, will se about the tune and the intake , if this thing does 110+ mph trap Im done… ;D

Regards

I’ll have to watch the video to see how it sounds/how the car moves, but a vac leak decimates power.

OP get the 3.0tdi allroad, so jealous thats an option

If I was buying a car for a family hauler, that I wanted to be pretty interesting, and I didn’t need AWD, I think I would also consider an E63 wagon. They’re pretty mental.

Actually jp where aer you located? Are there C6 RS6 where you are?

Another +1 for the 3.0 allroad TDI. If it’s for a DD/highway cruiser, the TDI is hard to beat. Immense torque makes overtaking on single roads a breeze, plus great towing capability.

Interesting to see how the DSG/s-tronic is offered to the lower powered variations of the 3.0 TDI, but they had to settle with the tiptronic for the 313PS version.

wow 313ps tdi from the factory? imagine that with a tune, monstrous when you need it and still able to cruise at 40mpg.

as soon as vag has an awd, tdi, manual I’ll buy my first new car. Though a north american release of the Golf GTD could convince me.

putting the stipulation for ‘manual’ in there nicely insulates you from having to follow through.

You will never see a TDI with a manual transmission here… Audi has already said this. In fact, even in Europe I reckon you’ll not see too many after this year. The B8.5 S4 isn’t even offered in manual in Europe.

Im from Chile
We have plenty of rs6 the prob its the price , it out of my range for now even used the go for 90.000 us
The e63 combi I look at this car but its more of what I want and can pay, but indeed a nice highway car…

TDI all road goes for about 30.000 us 2008-9 and the sedan for 22-5.000 same year.

Basically the S6 suits the price and performance , the interior can’t be beat for the above cars , except the RS6.

I have a friend with a sedan a6 tdi , its has software intake a no cats , the car moves really well and the consume of diesel its a joke he can do almost 1000km at 110km (highway).
But the problem its the S6 interior and v10 badge ajjaja ;D

Regards and thanks.

post a photo of a 3.0TDI all road. Frankly unless it is hideous, it is hands down the best choice.

The S6 is certainly fun, but horrendous on fuel. Chile gas is pretty cheap though isn’t it? If it’s less than $0.75 USD per litre, I would just get the S6. If it is more, get the all road

What’s diesel availability like in Chile? I don’t know about the 3.0 TDI but my old 2.0 TDI ran fine with any old shit diesel fuel. Pretty forgiving.

I’m not too worried about, there are other options out there to get an awd/4wd, diesel manual and they have no emissions regulations to boot

I know you’re not worried about it. It was kind of a hollow proclamation in the first place. Kind of like saying

‘If WalMart starts selling 10 carat diamond rings for $50, I will buy one for my girlfriend and propose’

Adding a stipulation that will never happen ensures you don’t need to follow through on the promise.

its not intended on being hollow, its what defines the value of the vehicle to me… no manual in a car, no care, my point being that they are losing out on customers. Now I understand that they probably figure the lost customers dont outweigh the cost of R&D since the fraction of manuals sold gets smaller and smaller. They have 2/3 in a few vehicles already, so its within grasp.

I love manuals but I think the writing is on the wall. Sucks.

Apparently the C7 vette may offer a dual clutch auto setup. Will still offer a manual likely, but man times are a changing!

well older cars are more often available as manuals and don’t have to pass emissions around here, easy choice for me lol
