I like the hood!

the hood is growing on me too.

Where are you buying yours from? I am looking into this

I believe theres only 2 places to order from that’s decent quality. I asked about it over on az and someone gave me the 2 sites, ill have to dig through my subscriptions to find them. it may have been in the rs4 pic thread.

I had the Vorsteiner vented hood like the one in the picture.

FYI, water runs down those vents and onto the valve covers/headers/airbox…

Like saki said, the weight savings are minima. I’m not sure the added cooling makes a difference, maybe when you park the car, the engine bay cools down a tad quicker.

I would stay away from the vented hoods, if anything get the solid c/f if you really want the weight savings.

Back when I had PES…

I’d like to see the vents go further back. The look like they’d expell a good amount of heat but there’d still be an area that’ll benefit from vents further back.

Yeah more about weight, and the fact that i need a new hood regardless

Now this MTM hood looks to have a much larger vent area and personally think it looks better. The $$ they ask for is out of this world though…

lol… yeah no kidding… they want $6,800 for the vented hood

wtf ::slight_smile:

The first hood pictured comes with inserts to stop the water when raining, but really who’s ever gonna stop to remove and replace inserts all the time.

Vorsteiner looks better to me

Neither make sense though for weight, and once you’re moving the vents are irrelevant.

If you’re parked and need ventilation at a track day or the dragstrip, good news: popping the hood is free!

Aero Function is the company that makes the hood now. Im doing the hood mostly for cosmetic reasons. I have an S4 so weight will be more of a factor (though not much) but mostly because i think it will flow well with the DTM kit. Probably not pulling trigger until this time next year though. I wanna make the car go faster first. ;D

Nothing wrong with that… that example of the DTM S4 with the vented hood looks beautiful IMO. All of the accents of the front and rear dtm bumpers compliment the hood perfectly. Can’t wait to see your car with it!

S4 hood is 48 lbs I believe.

I think aero function has the inserts that come with it. The S4 has such a heavy hood the cosmetic change on the b7 looks great a few guys over the years have been using that style and it’s always looked and functioned great.

its on my list but its at the bottom of it. ill likely do the trunk lid first.

It’s aluminium too…read that recently. I didn’t realise.

neither did I, wow I learn something new about this car almost everyday.
