If it’s a visual inspection and they know what they’re looking for then yes. Other than that, it’s literally a five minute swap. You can keep your PCV’s and swap them back in when needed.
Most likely yes but all depends on the shop and what they are testing for
Dude, I so have your credit card information already! But give me a few weeks…they just arrived at the shop that’s going to fab them up. Don’t even know what the cost will be yet. I have filters arriving early next week so I’ll be doing a bit of testing. Not expecting anything unusual, just want to see if the smell of oil is extremely mild, horrific or somewhere in between. The valve covers are already baffled (that’s where our “catch cans” are located) so just going to run a straight filter.
Your just going to block the throttle body and run filters on the valve covers? I thought about that also but wasn’t to sure
That’s the plan as of right now! If everything works out like I think it will, I’ll be offering two of the block off plates and then two OE adapters that plug into the valve cover port. From there, you can just attach two filters, 19mm or 3/4" flange, to the OE port adapter. I don’t have a source for filters (yet) so it’ll be just as cheap for people to order them off of Amazon or wherever. It’ll keep the overall cost of the kit down significantly.
I could engineer some hoses and run the filters elsewhere and hide them. That may be an option I offer. I’ll play around with it.
Who makes that adapter? I actually use the OE connector. Plastic, looks just like the one on the PCV hose so they’re relatively inexpensive and snaps right on.
Answered my own question and see it has “ECS” in the part number. Looks like they discontinued it?
Ahaha EC’s and you might have to call them I had a hard time finding it had to part it from another kit and give them the number
This sounds like a great idea you have got, I will defo be wanting one of these kits once you have completed the fabrications and testing !
So put me on the list please mate
You can definitely put me on the short list to buy/test this product. PM me if there’s anything I can help with.
You got it. Shouldn’t be too long of a wait, just need to try and make them to a price point and get the material choice situated.
Yes matey they look ace very nice work there really like the design and are beautifully made as your stuff always is might I add !!
Filters arrived today and they be tiny. Managed to get everything installed along with the temporary PCV housings which I plugged up. I’ll drive tomorrow and see what’s what.
I’m so mad I did catch cans and didn’t wait a bit longer to see this idea … Even the trouble I had making those block off plates lol let me know how the smell is if any or if it makes a mess
Also what is that can you have in the picture top right corner
Looks good Michel Let’s hope the smell is to a minimum ! Love the little filters on top they look really good sitting there
What are you doing with the pipe that goes to the intake are you removing this or just keeping it in place? Also once you block the PCV Valves is there anything else you need to change at all ?
Thanks
Steve.
The pipe that would normally run from the valve cover to the PCV valves was cut off. I had two extra sets of bad PCV valves and I cut the hose off of one set and then plugged them up with a super thick vacuum cap.
There’s another hole in the cap which also has to be plugged which I basically did with a small piece of plastic and superglue. Not sure that’ll last for very long but we’ll see! Was actually a bit of work to get them to seal.
Theoretically you can just do that if your PCV’s are bad but don’t cut up functioning ones as they’re too expensive and you can reverse it if necessary. Just don’t know how long plugged up PCV’s would last that with the heat and I’d hate to suck anything into the intake if it came loose, LOL. Hence me doing the solid block-off plates.
Other than that, no additional mods necessary at this point but let me drive her for a few days. My main concern is oil dripping from the filters but with the valve covers containing an air/oil separator, I hope this isn’t an issue.
