People were asking for a sound clip....

Gotcha, glad you are ok from it all, could have been much worse. I still think that maybe just calling a tow company to get it to your house would have been what I would have done. In any event any sort of fender bender is no fun at all

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Repairs on the car start today and I will have it back in a couple weeks.

Time to get back on the horse and move onward and upward from here.

(DON’T MEAN TO THREAD JACK, SORRY IN ADVANCE)

Hey everyone, Saki…

Been catching up on threads here, and came across your post about my current mods.

It’s been a while since I converted my car into a complete JHM setup and haven’t done anything else until now. Not sure if I was just bored or what, but I felt a need for a change… So I recently went back to Milltek DPs (catless this time) and non-res catback. Also switched back to a Unitronic tune designed for cat-less setup.

The JHM exhaust (DPs w/ HFC & res cat-back) was great, good quality (IMO) welds etc… the only reason I switched back to Milltek was simply because of the sound/tips. Probably sounds stupid when knowing the JHM setup gives the best performance, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about how great the car sounded with the Milltek… and came to realize the sound alone really makes the car that more enjoyable. Not saying the JHM setup didn’t sound good, it sounded great! No drone, smooth sound… but too subtle for me that’s all. I originally wanted the JHM setup non-res but JHM strongly advised against it saying it would be unbearable, so I went with their advice.

The Sebring tips JHM used didn’t look high quality… you can tell that they were rolled with some sort of machine to make them oval because of the “waves” on the tip edges. I prefer rolled tip edges like on the Milltek vs the thin edges from Sebring, just look higher quality.

The JHM tune was great! No complaints about it, ran smooth and strong everytime. I decided to switch because of the lack of attention to release a finished tune. I have the ECU (can’t remember the exact type) that there was little support for, I believe only one version vs the other ECU that has countless revisions. Also lost confidence with the on-going server dilemma.

Conclusion… my current setup feels good and strong, especially without cats… not as powerful as the JHM setup, but close… the sound enjoyment makes up for the power loss.

On a side note, I kind of splurged…I went with a full StopTech Trophy brake setup because I feel there is just nothing else to do to the car lol. Well there are some benefits… unsprung weight advantage, better pad options for road course, stopping power feels very precise and even… and they look damn good! I’ll post some pics today.

Looking forward to getting a TTS supercharger in the near future… want to wait for some hard results… not making the same mistake twice.

what more hard results are you waiting for from TTS? Sounds like you’ve been hanging out on quattroworld where they spend too much time talking about carbon buildup, spring rates and dyno sheets. Hard results are in…and they’re good.

I actually LOLed with your response… you’re absolutely right I have been on QW more than anywhere else.

Wasn’t aware there are results already, thanks for the heads up!

Dave, thanks for taking the time to fill us in. I was wondering if there was more to the story than what you had posted on other forums but it seems there isn’t. Hope to see you at a future event so I can hear your new set up.

Lots of people got a half assed rs4 experience from jhm due to the server thing interrupting the hell out of the tune beta delivery program (yourself included). Too bad because they were getting some amazing momentum.

Remember how shocking it was when they went 12.40 out of nowhere and launched that video? The next one will be pretty good too.

They will get it back. Vast dying was a godsend for jhm and Apr.

For me, being patient helps and…having to wait out my extended warranty period also allowed me to sit back and not get miffed over the fact I had a tune I couldn’t use. Now I’m ~2,000 miles from warranty ending and eagerly awaiting a status update on the tune/server situation. I too think the momentum will be back in the near future.

I can certainly understand why others would be done waiting around though, its been a decent amount of time. Add to it the exhaust delays, I really can’t fault people for being frustrated and wanting to move on to other available options. Luckily, you gave me a heads up on George’s exhaust and I jumped on it.

Looking forward to experiencing the full transformation from stock’ish to; tune/full exhaust/Stage IV clutch/lw flywheel/LWCP/Intake spacers. Should be nice. I have other parts (non-jhm) waiting to be installed as well that should increase the size of my grin while driving. Should be a fun fall.

I would really like to see a quarter mile time out of your car. At any of the more altitude tracks lie Atco within train our is it long island only?

Go with young Tony and another rs4 owner Or two. I guarantee you will all have fun, worst case scenario.

I didn’t fully understand what you were asking about ATCO. That is the closest track to LI that i know of if that’s what you were asking. I really want to plan a day while i’m in this configuration so I can compare it to later in the year when I’m tuned etc. It’s just too hot right now for it to make sense. In a few weeks when the night temps drop a bit it will be more relevant.

Tony would go - he probably knows a few other RS4 owners that would join as do I. Our tracks are SWAMPED though. You guys don’t know how lucky you are.

lol that was pure auto correct. Fixed now.

Saki- Long Island Dragway or Long Island Motorsports Club, located near Westhampton, closed at the end of 2004. We have to travel to Etown or Atco in Jersey.

yeah, I got confused. I saw a thread about ‘Island Dragway’ posted by some New Yorkers and assumed it was on Long Island, but it is apparently in New Jersey.

I have been to both…which one do ppl prefer?

RS4_Saloon and I are willing to meet up once the weather starts getting consistently cooler.

KryptroniKs story is pretty simple. Some ppl might try and use it against JHM but that is just propaganda. He actually told me when I picked up his exhaust that the guys from JHM were great and even offered to send something to his wedding which I thought was a nice gesture.
