Pikes Peak MKV Jetta Build

Forgestar?

Better get a back up plan or you’ll be doing the race on rotors. Unless this race is in 2016…then you’ll likely have your wheels on time.

they’ve already arrived

Looking good! Who is doing the tuning?

Motor and DSG tune will be coming from Eurodyne.

We also have Haldex tuning and setting up the AWD system for us!

Thought I would post up a quick shot of essentially finished cage work… oh yeah and something was being test fit at the time

Who says a racecar can’t be a family car too?

Our fuelling setup started to come together last night! Because the car will be racing in TA1 now it is required that a fuel cell is used.

Some work from the past few days!

Making room for the rubber and wheels before putting on the flares!

There is of course a few more lbs of stuff to go back in but we are pretty confident that the car will sit under 2700 lbs in for Pikes Peak.

How big is the exhaust? Do you need to do that for space reasons? Why would the car be safer if the fuel tank was in the car vs under the car?

i think its a three inch exhaust (i didn’t get a chance to check). It’s set up like that so its the shortest path! (we will run a proper exhaust for certain events)

Being in the TA1 class now we are forced to run a fuel cell for safety reasons so we found a tank that would sit in the spare well. It’s also lighter.

I think it looks very race car like. As it should. Is there some performance advantage to running the exhaust like that?

^shortest distance on a turbo exhaust is best.

Cool build, look forward to seeing it continue.

here’s a little TBT… Jon staring at the mess of wires that comes out of these cars

That does not look fun at all.

drilling holes for the new exhaust. He is doing his best to convince us it will be TOTALLY street legal

So… this is totally street legal right?

Completely. That’s going to be interesting to watch.

It lives…
