Primetime The B8 top dog

Mine is so random honestly and it is not always when the car is warm… If the track isn’t crowded Sat. I’ll hotlap a few passes to see if it happens… Not sure what DSG fields to log to see if we can determine the cause?

Some thoughts…

129 - Road resistance index
141 - transmission fluid temp
148 and 149 - clutch pressure
311-317 backlash of selected gear
321 - condition of upshift

APR asked that I log the runs for feedback on the tune so I can’t do the tranny logging at the track but will play with it on the street when I get some time…

^wow I should have figured the dsg would have all sorts of stuff like that… I’m gonna try to avoid that as long as possible, next car should have a 4l80e or t56

I hear you… I think I have had better luck than most and should spend the time logging information so maybe I can learn more and figure out what is what… Would be cool if someone stepped up and made a tune for it… I know APR hasn’t tuned tranny’s in the past but if I am them it’s a nice market that they could capture and at $1000-$1500 a pop I bet they could make $500K - $750K in the first month… That could fund a job or two for the right person on their team… I bet HPA and others can’t crack the code like APR did with the ECU thus the lack of a tune… Would even be nice if APR did a joint venture with HPA or somebody to tune it… I don’t drive the car in the winter so I will be happy if it is out in the spring! LOL Unfortunately, I was saying the same thing last year… sigh… t56 ftw… heck t45 in my Mustang has been great…

^any idea if the tcu is in the trans like it is with the B6/B7 s4 autos? I know that discouraged a lot of development becuase its just a massive pita to actually get to it.

yeah I do love the t56, the double overdrive is so nice to have. For my next car I’m thinking notch mustang with a t56 but something a bit bigger and bit newer than a 5.0

A year or so ago I remember Keith engaging them on AZ about a joint venture on this topic. Looks like nothing came of it.

I would think but honestly not sure… I’ll see if I can figure it out…

Yeah I think I remember that as well… Heck if APR was willing to do it I would donate the car for the winter and then they would have a car to play with… Hmmm…

engaging who?

HPA Motorports. THey had chimed in on a thread and mentioned they would be working on a tune for the B8 DSG. IIRC Keith chimed in about a collaboration, they exchanged a few posts, then indicated that they were going to take it offline.

That’s the last that was heard about it.

ah. I think they were on the Revo/Giac plan.

'Fuck…we can’t figure this out. What should we tell them?"

“Tell them we’re busy with other stuff, but we’re really close”

Doesnt 034 motorsports do a DSG tune? I know they do for the a3 dsg’s, not sure if that’s applicable to the b8’s though.

don’t think they tune stuff.

Oops, just checked and it was hpa that I was told about not 034, my baaaaad. Guess they don’t have anything for b8s though

they do older cars for ME stuff, and a ton of work with their own ECUs… definitely not working on the new stuff

Primetime…watch out. 81bear is on your heels!

He just ran 12.12 @ 113 on pump gas. Sunoco 94 octane.

He also had a 12.16 @ 114

we’ll see what goes down tomorrow you damn dirty b8 hater…

you’re going? I thought you were going to go dyno for a 9th time lol

fuck the dyno…1/4 mile times make headlines.

whats up with you, sometimes your investigative skills rock and then sometimes ??? lol in the other thread i said i had a choice, dyno today or drag tomorrow. im sitting at work typing right now lol and if you want me to be 100% honest… you are the influence of that choice lol

and ive only dynoed this car twice… hater… lol

yeah I know I saw your other post. I was just joking. Backing up your choice.

If you bust out an 11 second time on pump that’d be great. Frankly the car SHOULD have it in it. I mean the blower is the ‘limit’ on the APR RS4, APR S5 and the B8. Those other cars are comfortably into the 11s on pump. While the B8 is down on displacement, and the RS4 gearing is an advantage, I see no reason why a high 11 or 12.0 B8 time on pump shouldn’t happen, provided your mod list isn’t choking the blower off. Yours is pretty much as good as it gets, so the force is with you!
