The one pictured is for my own car but based on the results of my testing and feedback that I get from people I may make more upon request. It there is a strog demand then I would consider making more. For the ~700 whp one I would have to have a test car and I’ve already talked to someone locally briefly about it.
I still have to iron out the production process and I do not know how long my current method will take. I’ve already talked to IE about casting but they said it would cost $20k alone for the tooling involved.
But this is basically the final design. Just need to finish up the transient flow simulations and fuel rail mounting locations.
May want to get a hold of a company called Ross Machine Racing. They made intake manifolds and fuel rails for MR2’s when no one else did, and they seemed to be reasonably priced. Plus they make some stuff for the old 8v VWs so they may have a willingness to help.
Maybe provide more insight to the others as to what this is for and who you’re working with… Yes, trying to address areas for improvement for the B5 platform but the project in general. Pretty cool.
Saki, he’s not EPL tuned so he might have a timeslip sooner than later! He also has my old seats from my B5.
Lots of the Epl guys hit the strip… We just never hear about most of them.
Sucks because if you ate at a restaurant that made you get the shits you would tell everyone you knew to avoid it. But when a tuner sells you a bunch of stuff that doesn’t work, people say nothing (or they encourage people to buy the same stuff)

Great place! Have the five alarm Chili with the Montezuma hot sauce!
I built a 3D printer over the holidays and will be printing the manifold using ABS plastic. Then it will be wrapped in carbon fiber. ABS plastic has a melting point of 221°F and a compressive yield strength of 2,900 psi and a tensile yield strength of 6,100 psi so I’m confident it can stand up to the pressures associated with the manifold.
If all else fails I have plenty of local options including Wilson Manifolds http://www.wilsonmanifolds.com/index.phpwho builds intake manifolds for LS engines and pro mod cars. Also local machine shops and performance shops to weld or billet machine it. BUt will keep them in mind if I have to find an alternative method.
I am not EPL tuned. I will be heading to the strip for before and after results along with before and after compaisons using the dyno also. Just waiting to get my 2nd ECU shipped out to get my E85 tune and construct my own fuel rail line kit. I got the IE fuel rails.
Dr. Michael Swain is helping me along with my project http://www.mae.miami.edu/people/indextest.php?id=78. He’s been racing and building all different kinds of engines for 50 years as well as doing research on internal combustion engines. I’m also doing a project with him now on Miatas.
[quote]So if the AMD car went 5’s 60-130 and used the same setup for the quarter mile, you could expect a trap speed of 135-140. This obviously did not happen, so it is reasonable to suspect some power adder was used for the 60-130 (especially since it was a single gear run, some nitrous would be needed to spool those turbos below 3K RPM).

No power adder was used. I just suck at 1/4 and missed shifts and lost to much momentum during my runs, have zero interest in it, I love how you guys break down your theory. Like it’s a conspiracy.
I already sold my TiAL R770 kit, am doing a rebuild and deciding on a new turbo, not for 1/4 at all, not even for 60-130, but just to have fun with and have a good power band.
Problem is, I keep coming back to possibly going with TiALS AGAIN. I really think they are the best balance for street power, super good down low, mid range, and with the new tuning much more up top.
I cracked my block @ 685wtq, and just lost interest in the game, took a long break.

Why not a solid K04 build? Good from a dig, I still reckon they’ll be better for stop light racing than the Tials.

So your asking us to belive you once had a m9nster car that was apparently superfast it yealded great dyno sheets…now tho you decided that foemula wasnt good so you sold the turbos that you were once praising and the so called great combo you had to start over again with smaller turbos that have been equilly just as failded as the last set…wow your super…you should right a book on how to fail and make it look so easy
On the serious tho… if you really are looking at what turbo matches what you said find a turbo that actually matches what you think…the allure of the tial turbos 9nly seems to be able t9 stand up when people keep hope alive…at this point hope for the 6 and 7 tial vs the other options is dead laughed at and decomposed. …want8ng somwthg to be great and actually being great are two different th8ngs…obviously ur not a jhm fan but look into the rs6 line it actually has a pedagree with impressive results
I am not asking you to believe anything, its obvious my pump gas 60-130 time that I made 3 years ago will stand the test of time. No ones beaten yet.
I did not decide the formula was bad, I was selling the car after the block failure. I have had my car since the very beginning, before most people on here were even into Audi’s, I have had almost every turbo combination you can think of.
Problem with K04’s is they just feel to slow to me, 605 cars feel much faster, and 770 cars feel where it needs to be, from my perspective the car felt amazing when it was in the 650whp range on a mustang dyno.
RS6 does interest me, if its a balance of power with more down low, although I am not 100% convinced yet. I want to see some RS6-R dyno’s to compare, if they are hitting 550whp I might be interested. I also am not interested in some RS6 with China made housings.
It wasn’t that the R770’s produce a peak number, the entire range was amazing, at no point was a K04 turbo producing more power or tq in any RPM. Even when the k04 was out spooling the TiAL, the TiAL was producing more HP/TQ.
If you guys that talk a lot of smack against the TiALS have never been in a TiAL car, while I have been in K04,RS6, ANYTHING cars, you just don’t know what your missing.
Hate to break it to you but Your 60+ time isnt believed by mamy and like 5 kids care enough to go double the speed limit to prove how fast there car is in a range that no one cars amd with an epic fail of a 1/4 pass who cares how fast ur car gets up to a speed that will get ur car impounded and you put in jail
Yes I have been in a 605 car and I thought it was one of the worst things that ever happened to the b5 I wasnt even remotly impressed. Might have been the tune as it was jfonz but I still cam see that being the issue because no other 605 car has put down a respectully good time
If you dont want china turbos dont get the knock off turbos and get the jhm units. So far they are way cheaper than the tial units and they have shown better actual results…
Look, I really don’t care. I am not here to argue that 5 people on this remote forum care about my 60-130 time. I hold a solid B5 record and you don’t its that simple. I am published on 6speedonline, you are not.
All my friends here in Washington, and the entire community down here support me and know about my car. I love teasing you guys about it. And you of course attack me over it, I am fine with that.
I am deciding on what turbo and direction to take my car next. I really don’t expect the AMD/TiAL/EPL hate forums to care about it though.
