That’s exactly what traction control is supposed to do.

Why not try it with Esp all the way off.

edit* - fixed logs

It took you 16 seconds to go from 3000 to 7500 rpm? In 3rd?

That’s impossible

Also what is all that stuff you’re logging?

Generally for a quick performance log, you log group 003 in turbo mode and engine torque. Nothing else.

Or 003 020 at most to see if you’re pulling timing.

Logging too much the sample rate gets poor and there’s not enough data for what you really need.

I think you misnamed them. The ‘4th gear log’ has you going through at 600 rpms per second from 3000-8000 and 620 rpm/sec from 3000-7500. That’s definitely 3rd gear (or you have a supercharged rs4 and didn’t tell us)

Ya I did a bunch of runs after night shift last night, must have mixed them up on the uploads, I think it was 4am this morning lol

I was logging a bunch of things as I was under the impression the car wasn’t running right and I was looking for a fueling issue, I noticed the sample rate sucked but wanted to get a couple up anyways.

I’m using the hexnet in mobile mode so not sure if turbo is supported yet, but will give her a couple more runs tonight on the way home.

Yes I dont think that was 3rd gear.

Test.

Test Successful!

God dang it… I hate tests… I barely studied!

No updates on an awesome car = fail

Ya was trying to see if the new tapatalk update fixed my subscription issue I’ve been having… It did not.

Haha you and me both.

Ya been slacking on this thread, quick little update;

-I tried to snag the clubsport coils off audizine but someone beat me to them and got a deposit down, I told Bensopra to let me know if the deal takes to long, or buyer decides to back out as I have the cash in hand.

-I ordered the pcv through a friend at the dealership for a wicked price but it’s “lost in transit” or that’s what he’s telling me, so haven’t replaced that yet.

-after mentioning about that issue with the quick downshift and loss of power, we have had some stupid hot days, and pretty humid as well. The RS has been serving as daily driver as my Ford focus died on me and I had no desire to put any money into that car.
With this hot weather it has definitely brought out some pinging issue’s, much like what FWP has posted about on audizine, I’ve been running through as many variables as possible and been doing some logs to try and narrow it down alittle farther. (hence why I was logging so many things above saki) the downside I’ve lost my laptop in the middle of the house move and it’s annoying having to run 45 Min’s across town to other my mother’s to upload logs off her Mac. Any recommendations on laptops? Kind of want a surface pro 3.

What I’ve done so far;
JHM 91oct tune
Intake spacers
Sparks plugs (less then 20k ago)
Fuel filter (less then 20k ago)
Intake filter (less then 20k ago)
4 new 02 sensors (5k ago)
Full JHM catless resonated exhaust
Carbon clean (about 15k km’s ago)

Car only runs 93oct.

I need to have the full version of vcds running on a laptop to log alittle better, I’m going to try a few runs today on the way into work but the sample rate sucks on mobile. Not only that but because mobile is still beta the logging values and certain things seem alittle off, numbers are different for different values. for example; through mobile for logging it says I have cyl 1-4 for timing retardation, but I can’t find 5-8 anywhere? But if I scroll farther down I can find another set of cyl 1-4 timing retardation, which looks to be different for each cyl when I have logged just those 8 values in a group.

Jake if you read this, I’ll be sending you a pm tonight to discuss a few things, but let me know if I can log anything for you guys, as I’m able to audibly hear pinging, exactly like what FWP has posted.

you should see a big help with getting a new pcv that and put fuel system cleaner into the tank a few times. Carbon can get on the face of the valves and cause issues. Also the PCV system on hot days can get over whelmed and push too much oil into the intake tract. You will notice cars that dont have the updated valve cover can see ping issues stock or modified. Those are pretty common.

As for the logging. You have two ecus. One for each side of the motor. So you can only access one side of the motor or 4cylinders at at time. So you will have to log one bank then the other.

I’ll have to check my record’s but I believe my car had the updated cover installed.

Don’t know why I didn’t think of ecu 2, but yes they were in there. Along with the misfire reader so hopefully I can narrow down to which cylinder it is.

I would look into the pcv and get some logs. See whats going on with the car. Seems like it was gone for a while.

Well on my way to bestbuy to grab a cheap vagcom laptop, Mobile hexnet is handy but no turbo mode kind of sucks.

Cold start and putting around the city had misfires on cylinder 2,3,5,7,8. Freeway cruising no issues until I out my foot into it and saw misfires on cyl 5,6.

On the way home from work, cold motor and 20°C outside, was seeing 9-15° of timing being pulled on cyl5, while the rest were about 4-6°, of course the weather locally has cooled off but hoping the laptop helps me dig alittle deeper.

looks like your well on your way to getting to the bottom of the issue.

I would highly recommend putting in fuel system treatment. That helps keep the injectors happy. The rs4 injectors will have part throttle issues when they get carboned up. Did you ever put in new injectors.

justin, is there any particular brand of fuel system treatment you prefer? there’s so many out there.

have not replaced the injectors yet, but i feel like they will be on the list of things to replace. My buddy got back to me about the pcv system, should have it next week, ill see what i can do and get the manifold off on the weekend or maybe next week as I’m getting forced into taking some vacation lol

this is a good question, I just recently ran some bg44? or bgk44? from the dealer through my tank a little while ago, but Justin do you have any other recommendations?

also grabbed myself a Dell Inspiron 11, its nothing amazing but it is light, compact, and at $329cad, (reg 540) because it was returned in a damaged box, but the comp had never left the packaging, I felt like it was a sign to grab it, really decent build qualty for the price, and first time using windows 8.1, alittle different but picking it up quick.

Well booatload of rain tonight but managed to squeek in some runs… only to find out… I clicked export rpm… fml, and then another interesting bit of information, turbo mode is not yet supported on a HEXNET device (even plugged in with a usb cable to a laptop) aittle choked to find this out, as I could have gotten a much cheaper scan tool and saved some coin.

anyways I did a quick auto scan of the car and had these come up, which makes even more mad cause i just replaced these. I had no check engine lights on the dash.

misfire counter from this mornings run to the gas station, looks to be all mostly 1-4;

alot of info, but i managed to get the sample rate pretty decent, heres some back to back runs this morning;

temperature was about 21deg C. seems to be pulling quite a bit of timing considering how cool it is.

I’m just about to head out and log cyl1-4 will update later.

tomorrow I’m planning on swapping coilpacks from bank 1 to 2, I’ve yet to replace those and id like to see if the misfires follows with the swap.

here’s a log from cyl 1-4, temperature at 21C;

and cyl5-8, temperature at 21C;

(believe it was 4th gear was in a bunch of data)

my girlfriends father has a boroscope so I’m going to borrow it this week, and pull the plugs quickly and check the face of the pistons and see if i can see anything else inside there, I’ll probably also replace the plugs at the same time, and see how the old ones look. I believe stock gap is .36? can anyone confirm
