Hey guys, the first big event of the year I go/travel to I Quattro de mayo (QDM). Its an incredible event that is 3 days of driving through the NC mountains (tail of the dragon, silver springs, Devils triangle etc). Its very well organized, mostly an older crowd.

Its by far the best event ive been to and would love to have a few enthusiasts from here show up if you could. This year it starts on Apr 30th. Here is a bit more info. Im putting this info out in hopes that its early enough for some of you to consider. if you have any questions let me know. ill try to answer them.

As said before, register as soon as possible if you want to attend. Until you say you have registered i wont move you to going. So reply in post if you register.

I didn’t make it last year (I hit the flash flood on my way down and hydrolocked motor). But it really is an amazing event. My father drives up in his TTS as well. Great group of people. Raffles and food every night. I do recommend signing up and getting your hotel by end of March. Last year the hotel sold out and it was the biggest event they have ever had.

As we get closer they will have events to sign up for. We can sign up for them. However, last year I was mapping out an epic day of driving that had 3 different places in one day. It was like 6 hours of awesome. But like I said I didn’t make it. It had tail of the dragon, devils triangle and cherohala skyway in one day.

This year the hotel is in Georgia so I have to map it out and what not. I will say that I want to go on the silver springs run (ill try to add it in maybe) because I thought it was better than TOD and less crowded.

I was trying to set up a “rogue” group last year and do our own driving. If we can get a small group (no more than 10-12) its optimal for this. It really is a blast. It would be totally kickass to meet a bunch of you guys from here.

Which hotel is everybody staying in? I agree it would be nice to get everybody together and have our small group.

I’ve never heard of this event it looks really well done. I like the concept. I might be more open to not driving in large groups. If work slows down enough I might make it.

I’ve never done the Dragon. Always wanted to do it, but always lived about 8 hrs away.

I’ve had a hard time convincing myself that I want to drive 8 hours to drive all day when I arrive and then drive 8 hours home.

True, eight hour drive is hard to swallow. I’d combine it into mini vacation, then I could justify that.

I’ve never made it but always considered. Its just very close to Sowo, which i usually go with and get a big cabin at.

Keep this thread updated. OP, maybe edit your top post to reflect who is going and who is a maybe based on responses from this thread. Just a thought since this forum is small enough most of us know who’s who.

I will. For those wondering hotel is in the link. It starts april 30th (Thursday) and ends sunday morning for the drive back.

I will be staying at the hotel with everyone else as I have quite a few friends who go and put this event on and will be supporting them.

I personally will be driving down from NY on April 29th Wednesday. You can reserve your hotel now if you would like. Ill be doing mine within the next week.

That is the hotel. Again for those wanting to come, ive already spoken to my father about running at so called rogue group and doing our own runs.

Ill update thread with who is going in February. Until then if you considering it I highly recommend it. Ive never been to SOWO and probably wont because this is close.

Datadatum, TOD is amazing. You should come down and check it out. While TOD is awesome, silver springs is a not well known run that I personally like more. The curves on the mountain and no traffic made unreal.
