Questions about Used JHM IM

I saw one pop up on Audizine and im thinking of pulling the trigger. He says the black platic piece on the TB is cracked. I was told its only for cosmetic purposes. Is this true? Also would one be able to swap it out? I may PM jake to see if i could swap it for another that isnt cracked.

This is the next mod on my list so if everything checks out ill more than likely pull the trigger. Anything else i should look for or ask pics of? Thanks guys!

I tried to PM Jake from JHM but i cant? (because im not a member?). If someone could direct him to this thread or have him PM me i would appreciate it.

Done for you…

PM’d to Jake via JHM IM.

Regards Jim.

I don’t have any PMs ???

Can you show me what piece of plastic he is referring to?

Im waiting for pics. Once i get them ill post them up. He said its the black plastic piece on the throttle body. I figured maybe i send it in for fixing or swap it out for a new one (core style). Ill post when i get pics.

Is he referring to the cover that has the Audi rings? Or the plastic piece that conceals the electronics of the throttle body?

Have him come here and post the pictures or just post what he has. Also might not be a bad idea to ask him go verify the full range of the flap

I just got the pics. Here is what he sent so far. The crack is right above the blue lettering in the second pic

I believe you just reuse one from your car…

That appears to be the the side of the throttle body that conceals the electrical components. If its working fine, there should be an issue and if its just the cap you can swap it with yours.

Jake, your right it is that piece. We came to an agreement of 975 shipped. It has the intake spacers with matched porting and heat shielding as well. I just need to get it powder coated red. He is taking it off in the next week and will ship it out.

So ill just be able to take my OEM piece off and swap it out with the cracked piece? Is it straight forward?

It is easy and it’s deffinitly not a deal breaker. The cover SHOULD come off easy. If your worried and don’t want to take the cover off just get quick dry epoxy and put it over the crack. Just make sure to not let any seep into the mechanics. I would really try to take off and swap covers. Take a look to see why the crack happened and that there is no damage.

If you are unsure. Just post pictures here we can help.

Do note that harness actually plugs into that cap, so when you take it off be careful disconnecting the wiring. I honestly would do what Justin said and throw some epoxy on it. Its not worth the potential issue.

Gotcha. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the quick help. Hopefully he gets this off soon so i can get it powder coated and installed.

Didn’t feel like starting a different thread asking something similar so I’ll post it here:

Whats JHMs take on this?

From thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/613417-Separatring-Intake-manifold?p=10061165&viewfull=1#post10061165

The elbow is easy enough to diy, I’ve been posting about it since spring 2009

This it?

yup, it should be on EA and maybe AZ as well. Took about an hour using a cordless drill with a sanding drum, if you had a flexhead grinder it should go quicker. The interior surface was pretty rough, should I just knocked down the high spots and leveled off the fitting for that brass vac tube. I’d guess JHM didn’t bother with it due to cost v benefit, they have a long history of not pursuing projects/products where the costs are too high for the benefits.

This is just a guy taking it to his guy and his porter getting him to spend more money and the guy trying to justify spending it.

Thanks slow. When I get the pieces in ill if this was done already. If not ill have to do it.
