just had a guy over on AZ answer the question I was asking.
“When you buy a set of aftermarket seats (Recaros for example), you’ll buy the sliders and RS4-specific bases. The base has the seat-belt mounting points.”
Im gonna see if i can get a good deal w him,and maybe ride on white alcantaras for a while till i find a reputable shop that can replace the white for all black leather!his seats are almost bran new!:)and it comes w everything!
Yea I wouldn’t bother to reupholster them. Just keep them or get what you want. If you don’t take them lmk. I might be interested, they might look good wth the two tone door panels.
That was me…and that’s how it’s done for the Sportsters… You’ll pick up a set of B6/B7 bases, then a set of universal sliders. Here’s an example of a seat base by Wedge:
Then the seats mount to the sliders. As a note, the sliders have 3 holes for height adjustment. In this application, if you want to use the lowest height, you’ll need to cut off the two lower mounting points/holes otherwise they’ll rub along the carpet…again, they’re “universal”.
Different seat brands/designs may need a different set of bases/sliders…Sparco, for example, makes their own base:

There are two separate things involved to keep your airbag system working properly… There is a resistor that is needed for each seat to keep the airbag light off, this is pretty well documented, and required regardless of what direction you go with the occupancy sensor.
As for the occupancy sensor, Option 1 is the OEM route. I transplanted mine from my OEM passenger seat. It now works in the sportster as intended from the factory. Option 2 is actually coding out the need for a passenger occupancy sensor…I would contact user ‘OscarMeyer’ for background on this, as I don’t know the specifics of that option.
