Racing seats

I’ve got an alcantara TTRS wheel and found a matching e-brake handle, knob, & custom shift boot…doesn’t perfectly match the seats, but it’s a pretty nice complement. This photo was from last year:

Looks great koolade, my only concern with those seats is the lack of adjustable lumber support. Im a tall guy and my back never seems to be happy.

Gracias! Recarco does sell an inflatable bladder kit but it’s kinda primitive (hand pump that would be neat to retrofit with an air pump from a Ford or from the Euro buckets), but they’re actually pretty darn comfortable. I’ve done plenty of 500+ mile day trips in them and never have to squirm around in the seat or anything…but if you need extra lumbar, you’d probably want to look into fitting something in there. Do to the construction, you could actually add padding between the plastic shell and the Recaro foam…just a thought.

How tall are you? Wondering with the non adjustable height how these would work for taller guys.

I’m 6’0, 225… I’d say you could be up to around 6’3-4 or so. My buddy is 6’2 and he fits them pretty well with plenty of helmet room. I’m pretty sure the OEM ‘comfort’ seats do go lower though. If you got creative and deleted the sliders, you could get another inch of height out of them.

I have the Recaro Sportster CS’ in my B5 and I absolutely love them. Like others have mentioned wedge brackets and sliders are required and the resistors will keep airbag lights off as well maintain functionality. Keeping the factory harness was key for me, my B5 splits DD duties with my B7 so a five point harness and a suit was not an option.

The seat itself is awesome, it keeps me planted during road course events, it’s also comfortable for road trips and it maintains the luxury feel as if it came from the factory. Some seats are just too damn agressive for daily driving activities like getting in and out, these are perfect. The weigh 33lbs so they aren’t the lightest but will shave some LB’s. If you’re in a colder climate you might want your heated seats, it wasn’t an issue for me b/c I’m in South Fl.

Thanks for the pics they look so good!

First time I see the Sportster CS in all leather, that looks great Jupiteraudi!

those really are great they look like they belong in the car. sportster cs is now on my list.

Hey denrs4,

When was first looking into swapping seats I looked into the sportster cs and was looking at around 4,500.00 back then for full leather with brackets.

I ended up finding a used euro interior on ebay.de for 4K euro or so… after shipping, customs fees and currency exchange it cost me around $5,500.00. Sold my stock seats for $4K. Basically paid $1,500.00 for oem euro sport seats! Although now it seems those prices for euro sports have gone up in the last few years.

My brother has sportster cs with suede insert and they’re amazing seats, you wont go wrong with those. The sportster cs is much wider at the thighs but plenty of support for the torso. The euro sports are very tight on the un-inflated setting on my thighs (I’m 5’7", 155 lbs and 32 waist).

Also keep in mind if you go with sportster cs you’ll have new leather/suede etc vs a used euro sport that the leather is cracked at the thigh supports from getting in and out.

Pros and cons from my perspective:

Sportster CS vs Euro Sport

  • Less expensive
  • Can be more comfortable for bigger builds
  • Lighter
  • New leather

Euro Sport vs Sportster CS

  • “OEM”
  • Heated
  • Electronically inflatable bladders (thigh and torso) for a very tight hold
  • Direct fit/plug and play

I also purchased VAG airbag resistors and a set of A4 seats from a junkyard to remove the pass occupancy sensor bladder and installed it on my euro sport seat. Cleared codes and no more air bag light!

^^ also the euro sport seats are height adjustable.

I was wondering if they (buckets) adjusted down even lower than the comfort seats? I need all the headroom I can get. I had a Mercedes and the seat could be sat almost on the floor it seems leaving me tons of headroom. Rs4…not so much.

Even at the lowest setting, the sportsters (and euro buckets) sit a little higher than the comfort seats…maybe an inch or so.

I found some sporters cs full vinyl for around 3000k$ w brackets and sliders, and sportsres cs vinyl and dark alcantera inserts for around 3300/3400 out the door w brackets n sliders! Not sure which one to get full vinyl that will look like leather or vinyl w alcantera inserts! ???

Not what I want to hear, I have less then an inch to the ceiling. Koolade any chance you can get a measurement from the ceiling(sunroof area) to the seat?

No problem and thanks!

Great for track days but still very comfortable - I do a 1/2 mile event in Ga, the 12 hour drive isn’t an issue - for the record I’m 5’10 185 with a 32 waist so fitment isn’t an issue for me.
