Ran a Stage III B5 s4 today

I like this setup. Easy.

The results of the poll I started were shocking…lots of guys stage 3. I guess this is because so many blown K03 cars are out there and you feel kind of foolish putting the little K03 back in.

163 people answered. #respondants/% of total

Stock 18/11.04%

Stage 1 - chip 12/7.36%

Stage 2 - chip, exhaust, cooling etc. + incl. Stage 2+ (all K03 cars beyond a chip) 44/26.99%

Stage 3 - bigger turbos (i.e. K04), but not built and GT or RS6’d 68/41.72%

BUILT! - BIG turbos…built engine etc. 21/12.88%

Pulling the engine just isn’t worth it for another set of K03’s lol. Working 9am to 4am on my engine pull is the main reason I wish I just got bigger turbos. But then again, I’m glad I have good friends who helped me do my first engine r&r in a day and a half.

His car definitely pulls hard when he gets into his power band. We ll have to get a couple more before videos for better comparison before he installs the rest. If only the 4.2s had more support and weren’t so expensive to modify lol

This might explain the logic behind his posts…

You have an FI engine.
OP has an NA engine with bolt ons.

You running against a STG 3- is going to result in a different outcome compared to an NA with bolt ons versus a STG 3-, therefore your “the results are very similar every time with different cars” is a quite a bold claim (but you DO drive a B8 S4 so #racekor).

its actually spelled racekar and I just stated results to races I have been in, if you dont want them than fine no need to get bent out of shape. I dont control how fast other peoples cars are.

I guess your “experiences” speak for all S4s

This one time, I decided to take on a CTS-V on 95SB because I felt that the S/C 6.2 V8 wouldn’t stand a chance against my mildly modded 4.2…

…the results were similar every time.

Yes yes and no

Yeah we can probably get some videos this Sunday. Then sometime in the summertime we can get “after” videos 8)

I think it looks good for yiu…as mentioned my countvohn your just racing a terrierrible race for you amd you held him off for quite a long time…who knows how much or how little you lost on shifts vs him. Also your gear raito is lower then him and he is lighter…

Also dont for a secind think its less expensive to mod a b5. Our 4.2 platform has imho one of the best support a platform can have…the b5 is littered with cheap ebay garbage and china knock off parts and its still cheaper and more relyable to build a b6 s4 other then after you have to build the motor

Also race a na car race…you cant race a turbo car uptop your not built that way

Take this example a ko4 b5 can go 12.2 and a lightly modded jhm rs4 will go 12.2

The difference is in the mph and how they both get to the 12.2 the rs4 or b7 s4 will cover the first part of the track faster and the second half of the track fall off a little due to the fact it cant pull in the air as hard or as a turbo car can

Here is an example of a 600+whp b5 s4 vs a AUTOMATIC stock other then a jhm supercharger b6 s4
It shows what im talking about
http://audirevolution.net/videos/52/jhm-supercharger-on-135,000-mile-stock-car

How does a video of a supercharged B6 vs a BT B5 relate to a NA B6 vs a k04 B5?

I can’t do a race from 5 mph right now though because I need to put my new snub mount in, the front end is all over the place if I shift hard. I’ll do a pull slower than 40 though, I’m curious since I feel like small turbos spool fast enough to pull on his 4.2 even at lower speeds.

Guy… I wasent even talking to you…and of corse you cant do a 5mph roll you own a b5 S4 there always something broken…

Serious tho. Most stage 2 b6 s4s easily take down stage 2 b5 s4s. Stage 2 b6 s4 will handle a ko4 cars till the upper part of 3rd or 4th gear

Give me a bit ill dig out lots more

Actually nothing broke nor is broken right now, cut the old snub off before opening the new one then realized 034 sent me the wrong one. Put the car back together, ordered a new one, too busy to install it at the moment.

I’m going to guess it’s uncomfortable having your panties in a bunch, so I’ll race my friend from what ever speed, no excuses, to ease your discomfort.

I view this to be true; given the ability of the drivers to be of equal or similar competency.

[:)]

Anyways, this is just some fun pulls against a friend. Both cars are great. I love the 2.7 because I was used to the NA engine in my Camaro, but nothing beats the sound of a V8 and man does his FI exhaust sound good. At the end of the day who cares who wins.

Jist incaee you missed what you said

Maybe we have a different deddinition for broke or not working. …

You act like a care…facts arw facts. .your making the big issue of it…in the end you still own a b5 its great at some things not at others. So sorry I pointed that out to you…being a gm guy thougbt you would aprechate the insite…this isnt az man…people here point out facts…this isnt bashing its education. …seriously I wasnt looking to bash or put you down… I was just pointing out the diffsrnces and strengths of the 4.2 vs the 2.7t

Sorry took it more as bashing. I’ll take back my rude comment. Yes, both cars definitely have their pros and cons. Actually…just had my first problem with the camaro…but it was a failed oil pump lol

Neither car is going any where anytime soon (most likely) so we will have plenty if time to get videos of whatever.

What are you considering a stage 2 b6/7 s4?

Mellman. Welcome bro…AR is a differnt kinda site…call em as you see em but do it right…facts can sring if your delousional or they can be a gate to reality and understanding. . Most b5 guys think they have a 11second car even tho they go 13s…some of those guys do…most don’t…for the most part we all love audis and our idea is to help other understand and enjoy there audis as well… no bashing. Just looking to state what is what…not a oh this or oh tuat kinda site…there are some squabbles but most of thlse are guys looking to tell you how great they are even tho they do less then great…thkse guyz get kicked off there soap box

The point of my one video was to make the extreem point that big hp fast et b5 cars have a big weak spot… the smaller turbo cars have a good powerband but the 4.2 does as well…

Im one of the biggest gm guys you will meet. I love the ls and lt motors…even I cam admit amd have beat up on many of my gm buddiee with my S4… I have jhm headers and lots of other jhm goodies so that helps…

The big weak spot of the 4.2 is the top end. The rs4 has better gears and better flowing larts. This works grest with a little support… the s4 4.2 is real open to mods. The big one is exhaust…ditch the cats get a good 2.5 with a x and your well on your way… get the jhm headers and now your S4 has rs4 power…the s4 is still limmkted by the gear raito…

Yeah I don’t know much about the 4.2. Going into it I thought he would be the one pulling away on the top end because that’s where my LS3 really shines (also attributed to the cam) but as you said the 4.2 in the s4 is the opposite and just runs out of breath and not so great gearing
