I’m not sure how that post had me getting ‘testy’…I was more frustrated with nobody looking at the numbers, and instead just saying ‘this isn’t right’. His tune has a raised rev limiter then. His motor is stock isn’t it? Merlin’s Magic, the other K04 car on here who did a 8.8 60-130 said he had to jack the rev limiter on fourth gear up a few hundred RPM in order to hit 130 in fourth gear.
What did you do for that matter? I thought MT6 B8 S4 gearing was like RS4 gearing as far as speeds in gears goes. i.e. 40 mph in first, 70 in second 100 in third and 129 in 4th.
You need a 5 point roll bar at 11.49

I personally distrust the 60-130 as a measure, it’s done with non-fixed equipment, at higher speeds where winds play a much bigger role than the 1/4. I have no doubt that Kai’s b5 is faster in the 1/4 mile than his latest time, and obviously the numbers don’t add up compared to the 60-130. The 3 shifts vs 1 is probably the most compelling argument I’ve seen here. Also the very issue of a 6MT will ooze inconsistency, whereas the DSG can pop off quick shifts and launch 1.7 60’s all day.
I suspect this is why Tsivas is a little apprehensive to get to the strip…(not to call you out, bro… )

re: the quarter mile, I just think the 60-130 is a useless test that measures the car where I never drive it, so I really like the quarter mile. The 60-130 is easier to ‘perfect’ however.
When you factor in Kai’s driving vs. DSG consistency (which I mentioned 2 pages back), the DA difference on PT’s 60-130 vs. Kai’s 60-130 (which I also mentioned a few pages back) and the fact that the stage 3 B5 on race gas is just plain faster every other time we have tested this, I don’t know what all the hullaballoo is about.
Further it is not 3 seconds difference 60-130 between Kai and primetime. It was 1.89 seconds Kai vs. Tsivas and 2.18 Kai vs. primetime. As I said all along, the gap is significant, but certainly not ‘fishy’ or inexplicable.
B8itis is something I believe in. Not all of you have it, but it is a disease that is frequently caught. The 492 whp dyno defender is a great example. So many B8 guys lose touch with reality in positioning the B8 as a supercar that can nevar loze.
I honestly can’t tell you how many B8 guys have said I ‘hate the B8’ because I am presenting or interpreting facts that don’t mesh with their view of their beloved car. It’s incredible. It all started when the B8 was launched, APR dyno’d 316 whp, and all the B8 guys deduced that the car made 430 crank hp because of the ‘normal’ 25% Audi drivetrain loss. This explained how the car was able to go 12.9 @ 108 in the quarter mile stock. I said that’s ridiculous, and that they need only look at the torque curve to see why the car was so fast. I estimated it was underrated, certainly, but the peak hp and torque were both around 360 stock. I was attacked and called a hater. I also explained that ‘normal’ drivetrain loss on modern Audis is not 25%, especially not on a dyno like APR’s (HUB). Keith @ APR agreed with me, and now I frequently see people saying that the stock crank hp is likely around 360 hp. Novel concept.
I then predicted mid 12 second quarter mile times for APR tuned B8 S4s when all the speculation was happening, and was attacked for not saying 11.4 seconds. I was called a hater who was jealous because my B7 S4 was ‘obselete’. Again…hwut?! Guess what the APR tuned B8 S4s ran in the quarter mile…oh shocker. Mid 12 seconds.
I have challenged every one of them to present evidence of ANYTHING ANYWHERE where I said anything disparriaging about the B8 or it’s capabilities. They all go dead quiet. As I have said to every one of them, if I didn’t like the platform, why is it that I owned a B8 before any of you? If I didn’t like the S4 itself, why would I recommend it to so many of my friends and family members, about half a dozen of whom have purchased the S4 3.0T? None of it makes sense. People just don’t like the facts sometimes, and rather than open their eyes, they lash out with the usual bullshit…which 91GL did IMMEDIATELY after I made that B8itis comment. That I am bitter about the B8 being so succesful lol. I would like to see someone say that to someone’s face without laughing at how fucking ridiculous it sounds.
In all honesty Saki, I’m not a big B8 S4 fan in terms of the driving experience…I enjoy driving my shitbox M5 more, and I LOVED the rush of boost when I had my MTM-tuned b5 s4, even if it was slower. So yeah, I get puzzled when it seems (maybe wrongly) that you’re implying that I’m a B8 guy. I’m a car guy (or bike guy, depending on the forum).
I do watch B5 references with interest, you may remember I still have a never ending K04 + PSS9 coilover allroad project to finish, and I doubt I will use the VAST tune that came with my kit.
You should finish that project and then do battle with the JHM budget allroad build. That project is going to be something that will raise some eyebrows. allroad+JHM RS6r+full maintenance and stage III mods with a very specific goal and a very specific budget. Kind of blew my mind…made me wonder why anyone bothers with the rest of these Audis.

Bottom line is B5 on pump gas (with 240lb+ passenger) vs B8 on race fuel was DEAD even
B5 on race fuel and B8 on race fuel wasn’t even close. “Bus lengths” to quote Pete.
The 8.8 (60-130) run done was done with less than a 1/4 tank of MS109 pretty much didn’t want it to goto waste, at the track I was running 12’s conditions were poor (hence the bad 60’ times) and I wasn’t really power shifting and was just having fun with the car up until the track got shut down because a Vette blew up and spilled oil and coolant everywhere. Ideally I didn’t want to break anything because I had already done numerous passes including the roll racing. Does the car have a low 11 in it in my opinion, yes. Did I do it on Saturday? No.
The B5 on racegas is a complete different animal above 65MPH.
