Replacement air filters for 2007 S6?

Stock air filters flow ok k&n filters flow very well. If your going to keep the car stock then the stock air filter is ok. If your thinking about getting some of the JHM performance v10 stuff then it might be a good idea to get a better flowing filter.

Seems like i have k&n filters already fitted, but they need a good cleaning by the looks of it. I was thinking if the msds are a significant improvement over them that i would try them out

Clean your k&n filters. Its cheap and you already have something good. Just dont over oil them and take your time cleaning them. The better you clean them the better they will perform. And remember only use little oil less is more

When I had them out while changing the bulbs they was some oily residue on the bottom of the air filter and airbox. I guess they were over oiled in the past a bit by previous owner. I’ll try give them a good scrub

Give them a good washing. Let them dry very well. Very very well before you put any more oil on them and remember less oil more air flow. more oil less air flow past the filter

I changed over from OEM filters to BMC cotton filters and they seem to work pretty well better response and maybe a slightly better exhaust note (but that might be my imagination, mine certainly sounds better my mates S6 Avant)
Here’s some blurb as to why these are the mutts nuts!!
I think i got the idea of BMC as the look like the filters on the Gallardo

And if you’re on this side of the pond, where to get them

I wonder how they compare to the k&n filters. More expensive anyway

kinda hard to go wrong w/ the K&N’s - Autozone still running a 20% promo code, free shipping, $10 rebate, $10 gift card included = no brainer!

installed mine over the weekend - wow, tight quarters! Interesting design inside the airbox with the notable diffuser plate coming out of the air ram

mine too were a bit distorted, and dirty - begone!

intake sound definitely has more of a ‘honk’ to it (esp if in tip and give hard throttle in a higher gear), and throttle response is excellent - coupled w/ my new 3" pipes… the throttle response is TWITCHY!!!

and the intake note @ WOT thru the gears is giddy - exactly what I’d hoped for

Yeah I wish we had autozone over here. Cheapest them for is on Amazon. I’ll probably just order some new ones rather than having to clean and re-oil the old ones that are in it.

over where?

Autozone ONLINE

Over in Ireland. Autozone doesnt really give you the options for shipping outside of U.S.A

LOL that would be an issue.

I had this link up yesterday and the code above was accepted. Now when trying the HOLIDAY20 code isn’t valid and the link above goes to a new $35 gift card when you order over $100 … Just missed it. ???

The $20 off for > 100 at auto zone is off as of today.

BUT…

You can now use the code POWER35 for a $35 gift card and the individual rebate forms can also be sent for another $10 per filter…

I pulled the trigger today.

i got my fresh k&n’s today, will install them after i fit the morimoto clear lenses

Didnt you have k&n before. How did they look when you replcaed them and let us know if you feel any difference with new filters.

Yeah i just dont have the patience to clean and re-oil them. ill swap them out when i get the chance and then reset ecu and see if the fresh filters make a difference

I just ordered some yesterday as well. I never bothered before because my regular filters still look clean and new, but for $100 it’s worth a try to see if I get any better performance out of them.

That would be interesting to hear your thoughts

Please report back and let us know if you feel a difference. I believe the air filters are a good first step in better performance for the S6
