Replacement air filters for 2007 S6?

Installed the new K&N air filters today, and there is definitely a noticeable difference. My paper filters may have been dirtier than I thought (but still not THAT dirty). Anyways, throttle response is massively better, higher RPM torque is noticeably better… all around, it just feels like the engine is finally able to breathe. Highly recommended!

Installation, for those who haven’t done it, is pretty easy. Both sides are basically just mirrors of each other, except for a couple of vacuum hoses you have to contend with on the passenger side. I was able to do the install without unplugging the MAF sensors nor the vacuum hoses - I just removed the front vent tubes, loosened the 3 screws holding each intake box together, and removes the intake tubes to the manifold (the passenger one can’t be completely removed because of the attached vacuum hoses, but I suppose you could disconnect those if you want), then lifted/tilted the airbox so I could get to the filter. The stock filters did not have hose clamps, but the K&N’s each came with one, so I went ahead and used them to secure the filters. Blow out all the leaves and dead bugs before reassembling. I found some fascinating giant, dried beetles in there from the car’s former life in Texas ;D

Anyways, for around $100, this is definitely an upgrade that shouldn’t be ignored. I’m curious to hear if others report similar findings.

Nice to hear. It makes sense that the V10 would wake up with new clean better flowing filters. The oem filters are good but I think the bigger motor needs a more free flowing filter then most motors would

I replaced my old gunked up, over-oiled K&N filters today with some fresh new ones, i gave the airbox and MAF housing and MAF sensors a clean, fresh oil change and new oil filter. OMFG the car drives soooo much smoother. The car revs up more easily, the on/off throttle changes are smooth and there is a louder induction noise now also .

I tried to scope the valves to check for any carbon build up by sticking the camera down the RH side with throttle body removed but i couldnt get the camera to go where i wanted. Im still not confident enough yet to remove the intake manifold myself!

Some people say that old over oiled KN filters flow worse then the stock filters. So that makes sense.

As for the intake your not going to be able to see much with the intake on with a bore scope. There is a divider for the runners in there and it will be in the way of you getting to the area that you need to see.
