Car: 2013 Audi S4 DSG

Relevant mods: APR Stg 2 93 pump file, Nuespeed Catback Exhaust, Stock Cats, Roc Euro Intake, F/R LW Rotors, aftermarket 19" wheels (not light but lighter than stock).

Comments: worst time with decent launch was 12.75@108, about 9 runs within these limits. DSG is still short shifting as with all B8.5 S4’s. Ran without launch control. Still getting some timing pull of about 5 deg, took a pair of logs I’ll go through. Need a CPS bad, or supplement with some 100 gas.

^^ That’s not bad considering the short shifting. When is that occurring, and what RPM is it shifting at?

Just to be clear, that’s starting from rest, so you can see 1-2 occurs sooner than 2-3 or 3-4…it could also be that the logging isn’t sampling fast enough to pick up exactly where it shifts, so I guess in theory this is lower than where it’s actually shifting, but it’s not a big difference I’d guess.

drob, Nice results bud! From all the logs I’ve seen the 1-2 happens around 5800ish and the 2-3,3-4 6300ish… The best way to tell when the shift is occuring is if the total timing goes way negative…

Thanks Ron, still a ways to go to even get in the same stratosphere as you guys 8), but at least going in the right direction. I’ll post the logs (send them to you if you want) from the runs, I logged knock timing pull from banks 0 and 1…still getting around 4-5 deg of pull. I believe I grabbed IAT’s, so I’m thinking an AMS CPS and APR dsg tune will be the special sauce I need to bring myself into the low 12’s/11’s on pump. Probably a better launch too :smiley:

It’s always fun though, saw a snow mobile run 11.2, and an APR stg 3 TVS1720 R8 4.2 high 11’s. Not to mention the drag cars that wouldn’t even show times and almost made me lose hearing lol.

More info on the r8 please… That’s a terrible result if it’s the new kit. Was he driving a manual (poorly)?

Was it a 1320 or 1740?(you melded the two blowers into one there)

APR stage 2, 93 octane, stock/neuspeed exhaust, APR pulley, RocEuro intake, JHM LW F/R rotors, slightly LW wheels

^^ That’s not bad considering the short shifting. When is that occurring, and what RPM is it shifting at?

It was the guys second time ever to the drag strip, said he was having problems launching with his 6MT. Apparently he couldn’t rev above 2k while staged, and was bogging his launch. Don’t really know much more than he was excited when he ran 11.7 or 11.8, don’t remember. He was running the 93 file, he had the “get er done skywagon” $30k stg 3 installation done by Steve’s European, so I don’t know what else they added besides the intercoolers…ie not sure about headers, exhaust, intake. Stock wheels and tires. He wasn’t exactly the type to know all the details. Sounded like his next mod was “racing tires” and LW wheels.

He was pissed because his brother ran faster in a stock GT-R…definitely a character. I actually met him a while ago during a track day at Grattan, nice guy:

That’s a good half second slower than FT ran on the same kit, right?

Pissed about a stock GTR that is faster than 99% of cars stock…lol

Even with a shitty roll out launch he should have went faster than that IMO…oh well he probably just sucks at driving. Did you mention the APR issues to him? It would have been a kind warning to keep an eye on his car.

Sort of, but didn’t want to be a buzz kill, he just got the kit and was riding the “650 HP” wave of happiness. Honestly, I don’t think he would have cared…

The tech who helped install the kit came out in his K04 B5 S4 avant, very nice guy. I did speak to him about the APR stuff with him and he was actually saying things were gonna get much better. Won’t get into the details cause I don’t want to put words in his mouth, but he was happy with where things are going.

What did he trap? That’s more important. Should be 125 or so.

He said 11.9@118, I never really saw myself, only about 20 cars showed up on wed night, every time he was running I was waiting in line for another pass.
