haha those AMD trolls are having there way with you on the interwebs.
they make some good points, and cloud it with ridiculousness.
- you did talk a lot of shit to them lol
- you did run reasonably disappointing ETs
- we do always say the 1/4 mile isn’t that hard so people ought to be able to get nine/tenths out of their cars
With that being said, I’m confident your car has a whole lot more in it. With the boost you were making, and the tune you were running, your car should have been able to crack off an 11.7 @ 119 for perspective, so you can see that you left about 5 tenths adn 1 MPH on the table. Running 109 octane fuel on a 91 tune is useless, and may actually cause the tune some problems because the car is looking for a particular set of burn conditions and the race fuel is nowhere near like west coast 91.
The 1 MPH will come from quicker shifting
The 5 tenths will come from a better launch (you shoudl be 1.72-1.74), snappier shifts and nailing your shift points.
Not dogging on your driving but you said yourself you know you’re leaving a bunch on the table. The videos bear that out with the sound showing us your shifts and we can hear RPMs etc. If you had a couple of passes where you launched nice, nailed the shifts, and shifted at your optimal RPM, and you STILL only went 12.5 @ 109, sure we’d all have some questions for JHM. But when you’re trapping 118 on a 91 tune, it shows there’s actually a supercharger making power in your car. The thing the AMD guys don’t get is we dog on the AMD customers because they run shit times and they’re the ONLY ones running AMD cars (since AMD is such a little shop, they don’t even prove their concepts on shop cars…unless they tune the local transit bus because they have no shop cars). That’s where their customers who stand up and take on the role of the AMD spokespeople get raked for running shit times. JHM goes and puts the parts on their shop cars, runs a time, and shows everyone what the kit can do. It’s up to us to match or beat them, which we have seen in almost every single JHM setup on these 4.2 cars.
bolt on B67 - loads of customers matched and beat JHM’s times
nitrous B67 - customer beat JHM, another matched JHM
supercharged stage 1 B67 - one customer beat them, another matched them within a couple tenths (but made the MPH)
bolt on RS4 - 3 customers beat JHM’s times
supercharged stage 1 RS4 - one customer beat them and as more get to the track, that will grow
supercharged stage 2 RS4 - not released yet
Lots of AMD trolls will say ‘oh JHM only posts times that nobody can replicate’ but anyone who spends 4 minutes on any of the dragstrip databases will see that this is bullshit.
On the other side of it, you talked a good amount of shit to those guys about your car vs. their cars, so you deserve some flak, and having spent the evening with you and a bunch of guys, I think you’d be the first to admit that you deserve a bunch of shit lol.
All in all, good job getting out there. Now go prove those morons wrong and run something awesome!
I have like 4 vids of your car. In 3 of them you miss gears and run somewhat haggard times (12.4@109 etc). In one you went 12.52 @ 116 but the other car was so loud I couldn’t hear shit from your car. If you post all of your slips, I will be able to pick out the ones where you were going along reasonably well before missing 4th, and give you an idea what you were on pace for had you hit 4th like you hit the previous 2 shifts. Just take a high res picture of them all flattened out with good light. If they’re blown launches or 1st-2nd shifts, there’s not much I can see, but anything where you got out of 2nd I can see a lot.
I will post the 12.52 @ 116 vid later tonight.
