RS4 smoke issues and dealer results

After every post Joe makes Ben jumps all over him now. Its getting a little old. Joe doesn’t even mention JHM and Ben pulls out the JHM fanboy smack talk every time. Dude is a broken record.

Same here NY07

^Yeah I know. He is buddies with NGNG so he’s trained to attack anyone who likes JHM. Anyone ever wonder if NGNG pays him to make up stories about his car pinging?

It’s the big white box at the bottom of the page. Maybe you have to enable it in your settings? Don’t remember

cool threadjack bro

I think I fixed your mistype there joe, cheers ;D

It would be nice to be catless for cylinder temps, but the RS4 design is a bit better on manifolds to dp/cats. But I completely understand why you’re just grateful they were so nice to give you a new motor basically and will do your best to appease them for now.

Also, nice explanation of the AoA engine break-in procedure. It’d be nice to have that information stickied somewhere for reference and understanding.

i wouldnt doubt if ngng posts for him a lot of times.

I don’t think they’re proper friends. They live in the same state, but I’d submit that they just both hate JHM and the JHM fanboys (a.k.a. 90% of the 4.2 forum folks lol).

ngng is probably around 30. ben is like senior-in-high-school aged. There’s a bit of a NAMBLA thing there if they’re hanging out.

NAMBLA…I had to google that.

Southpark had a great episode on it.

national association for marlon brando look alikes

Had to Google Marlon Brando too. WTF guys don’t use anything pre-1990

had to quote this for posterity LOK, one of the most well known movie actors ever

have you seen fight club yet motherfucker? Until you do don’t come back here.

Not yet. Pretty sure it’s recorder by now.

1st rule in Fight Club: Don’t tell Joe

I was listening to ‘where is my mind’ by the pixies today, speaking of fight club

Sorry Joe, all I can say is Wow!! Fight Club, Marlon Brando… Wow… There is a young guy that I work with who did a similar thing one day when Anthony Hopkins and Silence of the Lambs was mentioned. You guys keep reminding me howmold I am.

Anyway, NY07RS4, congrats on getting the car back. In the break in procedure, did AoA recommend any specific oil?

Its on the DVR. Just need to find time to watch it. Maybe tonight

Ok back to RS4 talk

fuck that. he got a new engine. This RS4 smoke talk issue has sailed, and the threadjack is COMPLETE.

This is now the movie thread lol.

Thanks. I actually inquired about the oil and he said “no.” He definitely knew what I was leaning towards but basically said Audi had approved oils yada yada. Half the reason I was able to get the information about break in is because I was lucky enough to get someone on the phone there who is a “car person” in my opinion who understands why I was inquiring. He said 99% of their customers who have a rebuilt engine or short block etc wouldn’t call to inquire for a procedure.

He didn’t read from a script, lol, and I was able to ask and have him say “yes, this method would be approved by AOA and your dealership” or “no, we would not be recommending this to a customer.” So it wasn’t like he described how to break the car in and I wrote it down from him reading from a procedure. I had to ask the questions and he would either say “yes” or “no” based on what AOA allows.

Something else that is interesting, the tech notes in my paper work states; “tech informed customer not to exceed 4,000 RPM’s for the first 5,000 miles.” I bet that is what he was told he HAD to put in the paperwork yet if you call as a customer yourself and inquire - getting someone willing to work with you a bit and go outside of the script - you can have a completely different conversation. I ran the break in I’m doing past the tech and told him where I got it from. he was a big fan of everything I said, especially the varing the ROM’s and dropping the oil at those two intervals.

There may be a better method but I feel confident for two main reasons. The AOA techline person and past cars and vehicles I have owned have been broken in this was almost exactly. I’ve never had issues with oil consumption or anything internal failing on vehicles I’ve owned since mile 1. I’m hoping for the same outcome with this new motor since I’m getting a chance to do the break in personally.

lol, asshat.
