RS4 Supercharger Argument

APR just posted this up.

Calm the fuck down!!! Seriously what the fuck is wrong with you? I asked a simple question. I have seen the pictures. I know exactly what is involved. It was a simple question as i decide which supercharge kit to install on my car and yes j am heavily leaning toward jhm even if it means having to deal with douchebag fanboys like yourself. No matter how big or small I have never been a fan of cutting on my car and was just curious as to other members thoughts. That is it. A relatively small matter for you to get so upset over.

First off, its been a topic beat to death here…which is why Saki is annoyed by it.

What are your concerns? You asked a question and got a pretty good response from me.

…and don’t do the fanboy thing…it’s a childish reaction for people that don’t have anything better to come back with and mostly used by incompetent fucks with zero knowledge about their cars.

So you aren’t a fan of cutting up a car, I can understand that, but on the same hand you say you know exactly what is involved. It’s almost an over statement to call it CUTTING, you could almost file off some of the material that needs to be modified.

The cutting/trimming doesn’t affect aesthetics or function and if done correctly most people would not even notice the modification. I could guarantee if you or the shop installing took your time, the modification could be made nearly invisible to the normal guy who turns a key and slams the gears.

Sorry. You are right. My reply was childish and curt. I have searched and searched and haven’t been able to find people’s true thoughts on the install. Obviously you have members of other camps bringing it up to hype up their kits. I guess when it comes down to it, you are right it really is not that big a deal, although it is definitely more substantial then just filing. Thanks for the insight.

The filing comment was sarcasm…

…and plenty of people bringing the trimming up for bashing purposes like I mentioned. If it concerns you go straight to JHM and asks them for some install pics. I’m 100% sure they have them and will send them your way. Address any concerns and see how they make you feel. I know APR just went 10.60 on race gas, but JHMs kit will go 10s on pump, pretty close to 10s on pump without bigger pumps even.

Your question to yourself should be…DO I want to go with a setup that has been tested for years, by a company who has invested almost 100% of their time, R&D, resources into bringing the B6/7 S4/RS4 platforms the best products on the market. Should I go with the setup tuned by a man who was the only one that could figure out the platform…the 4.2 BNS and BHF…the guy that a company like APR called on for input on their supercharger tune…who works with JHM daily and takes one on one phone calls from customers to work out any issues big or small (and did I mention this isn’t even his “real job”, he basically does it because he loves it!!). JHM, constantly tearing down motors to see the effects of their kit, the boost levels they run, and overall providing the best research before bringing a product to the guys who help them make it all happen…THE CUSTOMERS.

Great points. I have already decided that the JHM kit will be the one I buy. Even though the cutting bothers me, I can deal with it because of everything you mentioned…especially the customer service. So far Jake has been nothing less then exceptional.

I have the JHM SC and I if I hadn’t known there was a minor cut required, I wouldn’t have known there was a minor cut done. It’s that insignificant and impossible to see unless you were take apart a bunch of stuff.

It’s an argument used as a scare tactic for people who like to bash JHM (either because they have nothing better to do, even though most of them have JHM parts or because of ulterior motives).

Zaid the best by a guy who actually has a jhm supercharged car…

Do you want to read what I wrote and rethink your response?

You quoted bensti. He said that on quattrofail and then all the empty headed morons kept repeating it, along with the AMD guys, as a way to scare people off the JHM kit.

You asked the question in the kryptonik thread. Euroswagr answered you.

You (for some reason) also asked it in here as if asking a beaten to death question once wasn’t enough.

So I let you know what was involved and swore a couple of times because it’s so ridiculous to go down this path.

Then you blow up, call me a fanboy, call me a douche bag…then claim you know exactly what is involved??

Then you say you may buy JHM even though it means having to deal with me? Is JHM selling sakimano as part of the supercharger kit or something?

Who are you?

Excellent! Thanks much for posting.

Again, my original post wasn’t to attack JHM at all, actually the exact opposite. I tend to overthink things to death, and that was what happened with this part of the install. Thanks again for all the responses. Made this an easier decision.

Again, I apologize for my outburst before. That is completely out of character for me. I don’t know who bensti is, I don’t know what quattro-fail is and honestly don’t know who you are. I was just asking what members of this forum thought about about the JHM install, and for the most part received very intelligent and well thought out responses. For that, I am definitely appreciative.

Your in the right place for technical discussion, knowledge, and basically guys who give a shit and hate to see people get screwed over.

You’d be making a great choice going with JHM.

SO …

APR 10.60 @ 130
mods unknown, but thought to be a APR SC 1740 kit, 100+ octane, between 10-20 PSI (the tuner said it was more than 10, less than 20 I believe) upgraded fuelling, stock engine, JHM 5r clutch (according to Dru and Jake from JHM), stripped interior with drag radials on race gas. Dyno 585 whp/525 wtq

JHM 11.12 @ 125
mods include 8 PSI JHM supercharger, 93 octane, stock fuelling, JHM full exhaust, inttake spacers, LW rotors. Street tires and full interior. Dyno unknown

AMD 11.36 @ 126
mods include an AMD 1900 supercharger kit, 92 octane, 14 PSI , exhaust, LW parts etc. Street tires and backseats pulled out. Dyno 495 whp.

TTS 11.42 @ 125.1
mods include a TTS supercharger kit, 93 octane, 13 PSI, full Milltek exhaust etc. Street tires and full interior. Dyno around 500 whp (they dyno’d 600 hp crank)

This is shaping up to be a pretty incredible fight. Who would have thought that 18 months later, TTS would be in 4th place???!!! The TTS time was mindblowing when they ran it. Kudos to them for blazing a trail to truly epic performance.

Now, it should be noted that if APR was on drag tires and race gas, they’ve got a pretty big ET and MPH advantage on the competition because the rest were on street tires and pump gas, so it will be interesting to see what they were able to do on pump, street, full interior. They apparently ran a bunch of configurations yesterday. I assume the 10.60 @ 130.89 was a hail mary pass just to see what the car can do, and that’s awesome. Fun to see…but only fun once you’ve seen what it can do in street form. Which they did.
