Three reasons I bought a RS5, the V8, it’s a stunning looking car and they are going out of production. I’m of the mind that there is no such thing as too much power. Having written that it’s obvious I’ll have to wait. I did stumble on a European tuner that advertises PESs supercharger but APR still does as well yet it’s not available.
Below is a picture of the right exhaust tip, Obviously the “Sport” valve is open.
APR supercharger is shelved indefinitely (just like the B8 S4 stage III - same blower).
We’ll have to wait for other outfits.
The other thing I’m pondering on are brakes. The stock caliper isn’t cutting it for me on the race track (and pads are expensive). All 8 pistons are the same size so pad wears unevenly. I know Brembo makes a kit. Stoptech doesn’t. Not sure about AP Racing.
FWIW, I’m going to a custom exhaust shop today and research with them the possibility of constructing a X pipe and removing the center resonator on the car. I’ve mashed the RS5 X Pipe Google button numerous times only to find the part was for the S5, not the RS5. Regardless, I’ll advise and take pictures if I do it. Thanks
why would you just randomly place an x-pipe? That makes no sense. If that’s what you’re doing, just straight pipe it instead of the resonator. Placing an X there might actually hurt you.
Yes sir, I contacted them, twice. Second time two minutes ago. They could not help, spoke to Kevin. He claimed I should call JHM. As of now they, JHM, don’t have any RS5 parts. Cape Fear Muffler on Market St. is the shop. I have no intention of butchering my exhaust until I run it by all you gents.
Slim pickings out there for off the shelf full exhaust availability.
I’m planning on doing an AWE Track Extreme set soon. At least that one, I don’t think it loses power (of course there’s no verification apart from the AWE provided stuff). I might as well throw a data point out there.
Any recommendations on testing I should do (apart from the Audizine Approved dyno sheets). Test N Tune here sucks (it’s a zoo). Last time I went with notarmed we were there for a few hours and only got two passes…
Just talked to Drew at JHM. He said they use an x pipe in their S5 system for drone reduction and scavenging. Are you trying to confuse me? I’ll see what the exhaust shop says too. Thanks.
it’s funny how Lexus caught so much shit for their fake exhaust tips that weren’t even attached to anything. The RS5 is exactly the same. So is the R8 5.2, the Murcielago etc etc
Just got back from shop. Removing the center resonator/muffler and installing the x pipe in the same spot is easiest. I once, years ago, did the same thing on a car and it improved the sound nicely. Now I’ve got to sleep on it and see what you all say? Thanks
Slept on it. Something about the shop yesterday that was off color. Two to three hours to perform job, $200-$250. Gent simply wouldn’t listen to me when I tried to explain what I wanted done. Trying another shop today.
No sir. If I do it I’m putting the X Pipe where the center muffler/resonator is located. I’d wager that device acts as an equalizer since it is the only place where the two different sides of the system come together? Thanks
Good grief, people are clowns! Went to another shop today, $80., one hour to do it. I’d say the other shop I visited yesterday are crooks. Have a 2:00 PM appointment tomorrow.
