RS6 TDI variant Concept

Concept for just because It would turn heads RS6 clone with vw R50 v10 TDI engine. There would really be no reason to ever build it other than for fun. but Lol thought I’d throw the concept out there.

That v10 TDI motor is incredible. They put it in the tourag…for a few years. Audi won like 4 years in a row in the 24 hours of le Mas or whatever it’s called with that motor

I keep thinking between the rs6 and this biturbo set up we should be able to make that could be of use for the S6 a whole used vw biturbo kit could be purchased for less than 2 grand.

Not too sure what your trying to say. I think I’m reading it wrong.

^translated (I think)

Thanks ^^^ yes that is what I was trying to say. I need to proof read a little

That bolt pattern look familiar?

Even the manifold gaskets are very similar gosh i’d love to see how well they matched up.

2005 Lambo is the 5.0. The Lambo 5.0 engine has different bore spacing than the 5.2

the Lamborghini 5.0 V10 has a cylinder bore spacing of 88 millimetres (3.46 in) between centres, whereas the Audi 5.2 V10 cylinder bore spacing is 90 millimetres (3.54 in)

If you want a set of factory headers that line up with the 5.2 block, then you can give the ones in this thread a try, from a R8 v10 LMS (same as the Lambo LP560, apparently), at $2000 a pair (normally $8k from the factory)

Youll have to deal with the mounting, as they are the same as the RS6 moutning style, and likely wont just bolt right up to the S6 block.

And then, who knows if theyll even fit. Highly unlikely. And then you have to deal with the o2s, cats (if you want to add some), and lining up with the catback.

You really only have two logical choices, for getting performance out of the S6 v10 headers… either gut the factory ones and relocate the cats and o2s downstream, OR, do it right and get a set of the long tube ones we are making, which include an intermediary piece for the cat/o2 delete/replacement/relocation.

On a side note, even the R8 V10 and v10 Plus have restrictive headers/cat, as these are apparently one of the parts that are improved and allow for increased power on the R8 v10 LMS (and Lambo LP560). So when we tell people there is power to be gained by improving the headers/cats, you can see that Audi/Lambo agree.

With the LMS headers and Capristo catback and tune, they were able to get 616hp from the R8 v10

Audi R8 engine/headers

As you can see, the headers from the Lambo/R8, are not going to put you where you want to be on the S6

Yeah that’s not where I was going with this Idea looking for something to plug in to this.

To use a combination of the RS6 and TDI turbo’s, piping and intercoolers to Frankenstein a bolt on biturbo system.

actually any and all similar engines to help with the system. lambo r8 whatever works the best those r8 manifolds would have to be modified to bolt up to the turbine.

I know there is a monster under these s6 hoods we just need to help it breathe!

I know the cylinder spacing is different but if they used the same block the exhaust ports wouldn’t have changed necessarily. I mean look at that… :-X Easy way to test just grab some exhaust gaskets for the lambo and see if they match.

The one on top is the lambo the bottom ours

How can they use the same block if the cylinder bore spacing is different? The 5.0 and the 5.2 are different blocks.

I was saying IF they used the same block I thought the difference was the bore and stroke. That gave the 5.2 the additional displacement. I could be way off. But the similarities are striking.

I am just saying it is worth a look

My take from all this is that you guys are in the right direction with the S6 headers. You can see the Lamborghini and R8 v10 headers are more like the ones you guys are building. So far everything continues to point to headers unlocking the real performance of the S6 V10.

We went through this with the 4.2 s4. Lots of guys tried to take rs4 headers and make them work on the 4.2 s4. The one guy who did get them to fit spent more money then getting the jhm headers and his before and after dyno and Acceleration tests showed little to no gain possible a loss due to the rpm and cam profile difference between the RS4 and the s4.

Using or adapting Lamborghini or R8 parts is a great concept but even if you get them to fit they were made for motors that spin 2000 rpm more then yours. It’s better to tailor the long tube headers to your rpm. Momey wise you guys are better off with he custom header direction.

V8 do you have any pictures of the before and after headers for that r8
