Umm i find it funny people say driver error? SO If you built a rs6r car and it had a proper tune your not allowed to go WOT? that makes no fucking sense
Was that bottom end apart recently? That rtv isn’t factory and looks fresh. 4 rods at once? Usually just one or two as it takes out its neighbor.
Didn’t read the AZ thread, just the first post. If it came apart out of no where on a conservative tune there was something mechanically wrong. Did they retorque his rod bolts or something crazy?
his engine was out of the car literally last weekend…so I’m not sure what was done in the interim.
There was something wrong with it before that obviously (otherwise he would have been happily driving it, not having it sit waiting for an engine pull for amonth like it was) but I don’t know what exactly was wrong…just that there was an oil geyser of some sort under the hood.
See jared its the person driving the cars fault. He had to put the motor back in the car because a certain some one left the owner high and dry. the cam cap was replaced. IDK who took the oil pan off though
something tells me there is shop drama surrounding this. i have no deets on it.
corbett, if you see this, i have a fresh long block I will sell you, ready to drop in. block has rods and the usuals, heads have springs and retainers. 0 miles would be more than enough engine for you.
also, i think its down right weird to not log a new setup. anything from new turbos to a full build, from the first time that thing cranks over I have data being pulled to cover my own ass and learn if something does go wrong. i also like to watch knock while breaking in.
i read the az thread, i hate to agree with them but something seems fishy here.
oh and no offense but your proposed build list and prices are all over the place, some way to high and some way too low. please for the love of god do your homework and dont get taken for a ride on this.
what’s fishy…like the shop just put it together and went mental and pushed it to the limit? Or they didn’t put it together well?
It’s JHM tuned, and as we know JHM’s tuner isn’t a noob…nor does he ever give you the full beans before the car is ready for it and has proven it’self to be strong hardware wise.
Would be nice for him to pick up an already sorted block. Is it the one from the video?
Well the shop that the car blew up at. Just put the motor back in and nothing else. Corbett will explain the rest. MBC on rs6 cars seem to snap rods every time.
Why would this be the case, boost onset is just too quick with out n75 metering the wastegate open here and there on spool to? Basically to extend offset. I haven’t seen alot of RS6 logs, but the ones I have dont have N75 showing less then 100% duty till almost the end of spool, basically a mbc at that point.
Great firwt post saltine great point. A pinned n75 is close to the same if jot in most cases the same thing. While a mbc will let u boost it up hard when ever you want so can a agressive n75 tune and if ur running bigger turbis ur using 100% n75 well int9 the boost and past peak tq
just something, i dont know. maybe i am reading into the owners attitude over it and adams comments here too much. seems like there is something known that isnt being divulged. what i dont get is the az thread title, it suggests the rs6-r turbos created so much power that the engine broke. then other posts here and there (39nas-t) from informed parties directly dispute that. so who knows wtf. engines breaking always interests me, especially the 2.7t
it wasnt a tuning issue if the story of it happening is true. when just running around a bad tune melts pistons, maybe.
was this an over rev?
not the one from the video, thats in my car. i always have numerous engines around.
The title a would make sense if the story was " we pushed the turbos and this happened" but if the guy was cruising through the gears it would hardly warrant a comment on RS6 r turbos. Agreed that was an odd choice. Odder still is that corbett hasn’t posted in here.
