Hi guys, not exactly sure what happened. Mechanic put it all back together and just took it for a short drive down the street to make sure no leaks etc. I specifically told him not to get on it and he understood. I had many other issues before this as saki pointed out so as I build a motor over the coming months we will try to figure out what happened exactly. As I said on AZ, I’ve been meaning to do a build thread but just too busy lately. Will explain all previous issues then I guess. I’m not pissed I guess, I wanted to build a motor anyways, and already have a spare in my garage that is half torn down. Just disappointed this happened so soon. One thing is for sure, everyone is a monday morning quarterback and I cant stand the finger pointing.
I spoke to count Vohn and he was less than impressed with the audizine chatter.
He joked about the AZ kids questioning the tune “yeah, I checked the box to break rods when I tuned his car, but it’s weird, because I asked it to break five rods, and it only broke four”
A little levity in a shitty situation. Hope you get it sorted Corbett
A engine failing is a performance cars owners worse nightmare, but it happens and the best way to deal with that major headache is too build it bigger, better and stronger. I know you said that you will tell everyone what happened at a later date, but I think that you should just make a build thread and omit what may, or may not have been the culprit of your engine failure.
clearly there’s not an obvious answer for what happened, and without strapping the experienced mechanic to a lie detector, you will never satisfy the little kids police force on AZ
re: the mechanic…I have to say mechanics are generally not all that into cars, funny enough. For them driving a ‘fast’ 12 year old car is hardly enough to give them a boner and make them push the fuck out of it to wreck it. The egocentric high school kids on AZ who think the world worships a previously enjoyed Audi enough to joyride it are a little out of touch with reality.
Imagine if you were a ditch digger, and had just spent 8 hours digging a ditch. Do you really think you would get all excited and take a bulldozer and do some wheelies in it right beside your ditch, and accidentally fill it in? Doubtful you would take that chance to destroy your work/reputation.

Lol, well the mechanic who put it back together is definitely a car guy. He works on s4s a lot and knows them very well. He has 8urv8’s 3L ready to go. I think it’s going in today actually.
The thing is, all my mechanic did was hook everything back up. Jhm put the turbos back on and clutch trans etc when they were in town. They didn’t have enough time to finish so they put it back in the car then I towed it to this mechanic to just finish up the loose ends. That being said, Kurt tuned my car and we all know he knows what he is doing so I highly doubt that was the cause. Literally all the mechanic did was take it down the street and back to make sure everything ran ok then I was going to meet him at his shop to take it for a ride. He broke down 1/4 mile away from the shop and I would think if he was out beating on it he would have been much farther away.
Yea i love how youve said 5 times your mechanic was driving it and they still keep asking why you didnt log it?!? REALLY?!? But good luck with it hope it all works out in the end it sucks when you finally get it done and it breaks again as i deff know how that feels
Are you cool with us real world know a lot types being super interested from a constructive stand point? Remember that when you post up a thread people discuss, sometimes negatively. Brush it off, you are doing things with your car, they are interested regardless. There was some imposed mystery here that I think a lot were confused by.

Sorry once again. I’m sure you know how frustrated I am for you. Thanks for the kind words on the tune. Fact is you hunter and all the people I have helped with will tell you that the first tune that goes on any car I work with is CONSERVATIVE.
Still lets take a second. I realize that most on AZ have little to no knowledge mechanically and less on tuning. If I was able to tune a car to break 4 rods at once. That, to be honest would just be flat out impressive. Parts like rods break due to Tq (well there are other mechanical reasons) but tune related if you make strong power your stressing components and the tune would be part of helping the car make power. I think this is a simple case of. Things break. We can speculate all day why. We can search this and that but if were looking to be helpful AZ isn’t the place for good direction CLEARLY.
HOWEVER we are lucky enough to have one of the top pioneers in self tuning the Me system in Snow Trooper. There is a little known box in the ECU that gives you the ability to break rods whenever you wish. In excitement and hopes that I could spend even more time with Corbett on his project I checked the box to break 5 rods… I seemingly fell short 1 rod BUT the motor has yet to be torn apart.
Yes Corbett I was looking to do YET another motor pull with you.
Yeah, I’m guessing he wants to make sure the car doesn’t explode before going “all out” - and that I remain above ground with the baby tune before I graduate to big boy power.
P.S. NOW I’m getting anxious. Any freakin’ day now.
