(quoting axel)
Here’s a 3rd gear pull log (I hit 878 RPMs/sec compared to saki’s (albeit non-carbon cleaned) stock RS4 of 688 RPMs/sec (saki, correct me if I’m wong on that one. I used the last log you posted) with an average of 780 RPMs/sec and a median of 800 RPMs/sec (and that’s with a box on the roof lol).
As for some logs of the bogging, here’s a few cuts and paste (you’ll notice the RPMs are below 3k and the load goes up and down which is me giving it gas, car bogs, then let off gas).
797 RPM’s per second is strong. The B5 guys measure ‘FATS’ as the time it takes to get from 4200-6500 using VAGcom or ECUx. Our gearing means we get through RPMS about 10% quicker in 3rd gear (all else being equal) so if we look at your car’s log it would take about 3.15 seconds to get through the B5 S4 ‘FATS’ test.
I only mention this because you can use that as a benchmark to compare how you stack up against some of them. Of course where the fats list is kept now, I have no idea. B5 land is really fractured.
nah, there are a small number of b5 guys who follow the 60-130. Many of whom hail from AMD’s area lol.
Funny enough, a little birdie told me that jason from AMD used to denounce the 60-130 test as a stupid and dangerous test that required too much skill to accurately be used as a benchmark of any sort. Then the AMD Tial cars started sucking at the dragstrip and dominating 60-130 and now it’s the ‘true standard’ lol.
So…you quoted my post (explaining that our gearing does not equal their gearing thus the 10% difference) yet are still thinking it’s weird, and are going RPM for RPM on your time? And posted up a 2.81 on a B5 site? (facepalm icon)
p.s. this is another reason FATS times suck. You can say anything and get it added to the list. You can make a huge error and get it added to the list. Only really good if you believe everyone you’re comparing to is dead honest and dead accurate and runs on a flat road.
Ok, well, the new coilpacks didn’t help so I’m back to square one. It seems NO ONE has any clue as to what might be causing this. Everyone is stumped…sigh…
Coupled with the new clutch pedal issue that no one knows how to fix either, I’m starting to get a tad frustrated…
Axel. Did you look into the slave and hydrolic system?
The B7 cars have had fuel stumble issues like your talking about in stock form. Some of the new emissions laws have caused the same results your talking about. Give me a week or so and I can look into seeing what was required to solve this issue. This isn’t a uncommon issue. I know your just seeing it now. I figure the added power your making has just over exposed the issue.
Rest well Ill check on this when Im back in the tech center later this week. Ill have several of the solutions for you that we perform on the B7 fuel stumble cars.
In short you came to the right web site. Thank god for inviting me and asking me and the other techs to post here.
Thanks for all the help you’re able to provide. I didn’t realize this issue wasn’t all that uncommon. It makes sense that it started popping up after the increased power from the supercharger I guess. It’s been 3 months now and I was getting frustrated last night hehe when it happened again as I was trying to pass someone.
As for the clutch, according to Speed, a new slave cylinder and hose didn’t seem to resolve the problem. Both Maddog, Speed and I all started experiencing this issue within a 24 hour period. Very weird…
Anyway, looking forward to anything you might be able to come back with.
just for the record, this is pretty much useless for comparing car to car since every road is different. Use it to track your own car’s progress, and log on the same road in the same location everytime, hopefully in the same conditions. That is unless you are comparing multiple cars on the same road, same time. Then it has some comparison value.
