S4 Race Wars 2015 [Pittsburgh]

OK, I know I know, a lot of you hate AZ and especially the B5 guys. But this is a fun, small event with some good guys. Plus it’s a chance to beat up on some B5 S4’s ;D Anyways here are the details:

Audizine Thread

Year 3! We are moving from State College a little bit West.

This years event will be held at the Meadowlands Casino in Washington, PA (just south of Pittsburgh) on Saturday May 30th and Sunday May 31st, 2015!

We will have a two day event this year with a meet up on Saturday. There will be a “cruise” on Saturday afternoon. There will be a road rally with checkpoints on Sunday starting and ending at the Meadowlands Casino.

SATURDAY: (LEAVE AT NOON)
Saturdays “cruise” will head out at NOON from the hotel parking garage, so eat your wheaties and clean up your car and be ready to roll at NOON. A specific meeting location away from the casino will be handed out just before leaving the lot. The “cruising” will be staged from that specific location. The staging will be done by the organizers so bring your mods list and we will sort people into groups. (Brett will always be in the slow group, lol). For those of you not wanting to “cruise”, there will be plenty of space to hang out and relax.

SUNDAY: (LEAVE AT 10 AM)
Sundays event will be a Road Rally with 2 check points that will be handed out just before the event kicks off. The event will start at 10:00 am with cars rolling off at 11:00 am. The event should not take longer than 2 hours and 45 min per car to compete so we can expect all cars to be finished around 3:00 pm at the latest. There will be 2 check points at which pictures (selfies) will be required to prove you made it to those check points. The start will also be the finish. If you do not want to participate and only spectate there will be space to park and “show” your car.

We are trying to get block rates for the hotel currently, but aren’t having much luck. There are several hotels in the area. I recommend the Hampton Inn and Suites - Pittsburgh Meadowlands for its proximity to the event location. Best rates have been on Priceline every time I’ve checked so far.

So “Racewars” isn’t at a dragstrip where we could actually race without fear of being arrested?

Who is att being this event 16-20 year olds?

I was actually interested but driving like an idiot in groups on public highways isn’t my thing. I understand some of you may abide by laws and have a good time, but there is always that 10%…the idiots.

They are also calling it S4 Racewars, not S4 Road Rally. It would be cool if they did a cruise/rally one day and a strip meet the next. Then I think more people would be interested.

The “Racewars” moniker was simply a joke when a few of us got together a couple years ago.

I’ve been pushing to rent a drag strip or runway, but unfortunately people don’t really want to shell out the cash.

This is why I added in the road rally this year. I like cruising good roads more than highway pulls anyways.

For the most part it’s a lot of hanging out and meeting people and cruising. Not everyone does highway pulls unless they want to.

Anyways, if you guys ever get serious about a dragstrip day, I’d be interested. I could come to that side of the state to visit family and have a little fun.

Correct, I wanted something more than just highway pulls. So this year we are coordinating a loop (iirc ~75 mi.) and we will time each car. Closest to the theoretical best legal time wins. You will need to show your cluster’s trip mileage as well as the two “selfies” to verify you ran the mapped course. Mapquest printed instructions will be given (makes for possible driver errors versus a Google maps .kml)

Just North of Philly, I’ll be at ATCO…again…in the spring. I’m actually taking my wife to a show down there this weekend, Wilmington is only about an hour and 20 minutes from my house.

Awesome, I attended university in the Lehigh Valley and lived in Merion Station briefly so I’m pretty familiar with the area.
