Seal66 Build thread

So been throwing around the idea of another turbo set.

Granted as Mec can tell you guys my current setup is fast it seems likes lol.

I have been looking at 3 turbos in general,

Bw ERF 6758
GTX 3067R
GTX 3071R

All would be single scroll and probably with a turbine house of .63 equiv…

My goal is to have a quick spooling car that can top my current numbers and is fun until around 7500Rpms.
I wanna be past 375-400HP and 475-500TQ AWHP. I know the TQ numbers might be hard to get.

I setup the car for mountain carving. I don’t really enjoy straight line runs, too boring. I was curious to hear some peoples thoughts on this. I am open to other turbo suggestions as well.

Current setup-
IE rods
calico bearings
stock pistons
E85
S3 K04
TTRS LPFP
HPFP stg2 pump

Otherwise a stock motor.

Seal66 and I were out on a cruise the other day and we both got on it. I was surprised how fast his car is. We had raced a while ago while he had a slight misfire, and I pulled cars on him, this time, we took off from 40 in second gear, I looked back and saw him, he wasn’t far behind, I got a slight jump, so I was ahead, by 120, I could see him in my side mirror, just inching up on me, closing in, and by 130 we let off, but he was definitely gaining on me. That k04 with e85 is a beast.

As far as recommendations go, I would go efr 6758, or hta3076, the 3071 has worse spool than the 6758 and doesn’t flow as much and the 3067 is the worst of both worlds.

I think I’m the only one that still wants a TS 7163 :-[

I Would love to see what it can do, no one has any updates on it yet. Some people claim its spools just like a 6758 with hella top end, then again a lot of people compare its spool to a full frame 30r…its tough to say without seeing someone run one.

Have you considered any of the Mitsubishi turbochargers? They’ve got incredibly well designed scrolling area and a great range of AR sizes.

Wow thats a great price…that turbo looks very different though. No integrated DV, housing looks less quality than the regular 6758, and it looks like the comp outlet is even longer…wonder if its an early generation 6758, if so, a lot of those turbos were known to have exploding gamma-ti turbine wheels…kaboom!

That did look like a great price unless its this

The only thing I can find searching the BW part number were two ended ebay listings for non WG EFRs.

EFR used to make their wheels out of titanium alloy, and they had a few failures in their testing, but from what I recall it was a batch of 6258’s that were faulty, some guys would notice no boost, pull the turbo out and find that their turbine wheel had disappeared. pretty wacky.

Watch here ( we really need to have a video integration button)

However, I don’t remember any 6758 failures, but this unit also looks pretty different…most 6758’s have smoother castings and they have the integrated BOV…this one looks quite interesting. I’m not sure if the 6758 was revamped, but I know on the Mixed-Flow wheels, BW decided to recirc the diverter valve air flow right at the compressor wheel at angle so taht when you release throttle the air is shot back into the compressor wheel to help it spool even faster. Just one of their neat little tricks to help spool. That said, I don’t even see the flange for it on this turbo so it seems like a different version, perhaps much older.

For comparison.

I didn’t think the 6758 had the mixed flow turbine?

The original doesn’t, that’s why I was wondering if it was revised, because it looks lke you can get this turbo with and without integrated dv, there might be two completely different designs for the 6758
Good eye. However they have NEVER offered that turbine housing to the public. This is actually a indy car turbo that was sold off when they swapped from 6758s to 7163s.

This is non internal WG and non internal BOV.
Not F1. Indy car and yes it is a real indy car turbo. Notice it looks unlike any other EFR turbo.
As per the OP, it came off and actual Indy car.

Creeepin’

That turbo is off an Indy car.

Echo

Been awhile since I have update this thread

So update it. The B7 section has been dead for a while. It would be nice to have something worth reading instead of the “What exhaust is best?” threads on AZ.
