Hey, it was fucking 3 degrees this morning in the city. That is extremely cold to us.

The real problem in Atlanta & Birmingham was that it hasn’t bee consistently cold. So a lot of the snow was melting when hitting the road / traffic area, but the temp dropped so fast it just became ice. Neither city put out salt trucks, so it was just a free-for-all with everyone’s SUV’s and summer tires. A couple idiots go a long way!

But I do agree, people in the south don’t know how to deal with, much less drive in the 1/2" snowfall we get every 5 years.

Wolf Blitzer yammering over a room full of suits stumbling around. For a half hour. Pretty wicked television. That’s what was on between the 2nd and 3rd periods of the Leafs game.

Last night on UFC Unleashed they showed the 5 round fight between Shogun and Hendo which was deemed to be the “2011 fight of the year.” Anyone recall seeing the bout? Early in the 3rd, (not even half way through the fight,) Shogun went down out of exhaustion more than anything else, and Hendo followed him down to start hammering out the TKO. Shogun pretty much stopped defending himself and layed there prone. Hendo stopped hammering, out of exhaustion. He couldn’t finish an opponent who was playing dead on the ground. They wound up back on their feet. And once again this was early in the 3rd of 5 rounds. The 4th and 5th saw them both stumble around a bit must mostly stand prone. Somebody called this, the gas fest of all time the 2011 fight of the year.

haha Shogun was REALLY out of shape as he got older. He looked ok, but he had virtually no stamina. I get the impression he just shows up and fights. He was amazing when he was younger but as time caught up with him, he really lost his edge.

The best example of this was Shogun vs. Mark Coleman. This was the worst fight I’ve ever seen. They were both gased in the first round…and hadn’t even done anything yet. It was like they were fighting at the top of Everest in the summer while wearing Wanderlei’s training snorkel.

Another snowstorm overnight in Chicago - still ongoing downtown. This winter has been unrelenting.

I love monster storms. We don’t seem to get them where I live now. I’m right by Lake Ontario, so the ‘lake effect’ here is not one of extra snow…it’s the opposite. Prevailing winds are from the NorthWest, and I am just above Lake Ontario, so the only lake effect snow Lake Ontario produces is generally dumped on upstate New York.

Lake Ontario is very deep, so it doesn’t freeze over much at all, and as a result the warm (relatively) water moderates temperature for those who are within a half mile or so of it. I can drive 4 miles north and they will have 4 inches of snow when I have had nothing. It’s weird.

Anyway, so far so good. The view outside is of a pure whiteout.

Ya my boots are shot, and I’m walking around in brand new dress shoes. It’s very sloppy out there right now. Sucks.

Sak - sounds like you guys are getting it worse up north. It’s not a pure whiteout here, but unfortunately I think the snow is supposed to keep coming throughout the afternoon.

Ha. I just got my winter tires and wheels on yesterday. Had to break them in so I did a powerslide out of the driveway. Apparently they were showing the house across the street to buyers and after the buyers heard me they walked out.
