So it was an awesome day… Had a lot of fun and as a bonus i was able to win the entire event and take home a trophy which was pretty awesome…

The temp during race time was between 59-64 degrees and DA at the first run was +30 and was +404 at the end of the day…

My dad was able to get 4 runs in unfortunately he was eliminated first run in bracket…

Great results for everyone! Way to win the trophy bracket racing with a 6-speed… It’s tough I used to do it in my mustang… Major props! 60s need some work though ;D

Vids?

The 3rd gear run is cool. Did you just start in third and keep it pinned once it got started all the way till you shifted hard into fourth? Or did you just pleasure cruise it?

Are those times better than your other ones?

Any other fast audis there?

Haha yeah it was awesome, had a boat load of fun…

I came out as hard as I could without putting too much of a killing on the stock clutch. I think it has a 11.9X in it with lighter wheels. I’m still at 15psi, stupid B8.5 boosts so low…

I rolled out in 3rd and just gunned in until I hit the limiter in 3rd and just let it bounce off… It was funny bc a 335i was there and he trapped 99.5 on some type of beta piggy back…

Yeah these are my best times in the 2013 so far.

Thanks for posting my slips Pete. Was a great day for racing and we got plenty of runs in… Car felt strong but i need to try the race file next time around. We should go again with some better DA, maybe a Wed night in the near future.

Nah my pops was the fastest Audi of the day not too many cars that looked promising

Great work Pete, kinda makes me wish even more that I should of went  I can see you and me at the finals lmao!

Maybe one day…in due time I guess.

Grrr, I wish I had extra time to finish my elro-cooler and my other power adders. ;D

I really happy you guys had a great time and that you kicked ass and took home the trophy brother! Fuck yeah!

Next weekend will be my test n tune, and hopefully my best yet. I got my launches consistent 1.7x so with the new lighter wheels and better/lighter tires and also the forecast looks amazing possibly -1000 D/A, hoping for low times for sure…

Thanks bud! Good luck and post up when you go!

Although you got the hardware, your ET results seem less than stellar when compared to your dad’s time on the same day (11.7) – irrespective of the Manual debate.

In my B8.5 DSG with similar conditions, I was running 11.90’s consistently.

Do you think the lower boost in the 8.5’s is contributing to most of of the higher times to your older car?

I kept my heavy 19’s on for the runs vs. my old car which had some lightweight 18’s which is probably a tenth right there. I didn’t go as crazy on the launches since I was on the stock clutch however it was coming out pretty hard.

I’d say that extra ~2.5psi that the B8 has is definently the difference in power. My shifts were spot on on every run and the launches despite going lower RPM than normal still didn’t have any bog…

Conditions for my 11.8@117.9 in my old car we’re better slightly. I think once I go catless on this car and throw on some lighter wheels I can hit 11.9X@116.XX. The boost issue fixed and a good clutch like the JHM kit I think I can hit 11.6@118.XX

Congrats on the win Auditude!

One questions, do they not review your trap speed during these events to see if you’re letting off? I’ve never participated in a bracket event so I’m not sure exactly how it works…

FWIW, my first run of 12.631@111.99 was without launch control and 38PSI all around. I dropped PSI to 32 front, 34 rear and then used launch control for all other runs. Also, I left the shifter in manual mode for all runs with LC.

No trap speed is irrelevant it’s all based on ET w/o breaking out, IE beating your dial in… So it’s about reaction time w/o redlighting and running as close to dial in as possible assuming your opponent doesn’t redlight or breakout themselves…

So if one car dials in at 11.00 and one at 12.00 the 12.00 car gets exactly a 1 second head start so again reaction time is critical as well as coming as close to the predicted time that you can… If you are ahead at the end you let off and coast so you don’t break out… It’s fun but when you are trying to coax the best ET out of your car it’s not… lol Also, bracket racing is where you get more “deep staging” vs “shallow staging”…

not really any fun IMHO…to many people sandbagging trying to win gay little trophies…lol

[quote=“euroswagr,post:18,topic:4808”]
Fair enough… Some tracks pay $ for round wins and overall win… Also, some tracks quit doing tnt and move to a bracket race as a way to end the day so if you want to keep running you have no choice… I’m with you though as far as the sandbagging and such…

I guess it’s sporty, but I don’t really get it. It’s like handicap golf events. I never play handicap golf events.

Test and Tune is fun because you can work on getting good information on how fast your car is. The dragstrip to me is a big measuring device, rather than a sporting arena. Everyone is different of course. A DSG B8 S4 would be a fun car to take to a bracket though. They’re deadly consistent with an APR tune/pulley. Stock and the other tunes seem to be a little more variable.
