Nice!!! What other cars were in the novice class? Glad to see these car doing so well or there, sound alike your getting into it, any itch into a lighter more equally weight distributed car for track use or is the c6 s6 holding you over for now?
There were some M3s, an F-Type R, Cayman, Boxter, C7 A6, track-prepped TT, etc, etc… All in all, the only cars faster it seemed were the TT and the Cayman, although I ended up catching/passing the Cayman after I learned the track.
Yeah I want to get a race car, but I need to learn how to drive manual first lol, so we’ll be buying a car to learn on and then probably buy a caged car second hand or buy a wrecked A5, cage it, and go from there. Time will tell. None of that will probably come till the end of the year at the earliest.
Nice. Its great to have such a great car that can really bring so much fun and fast performance to the table. Ive been preaching it for years and years. The best way to go is the find the formula for power and performance and stick with what actually works. Looks like you have the text book performance guide to fun and fast
Welp, steering rack (from BuyAutoParts) and Meyle HD Control Arm Kit (from EuropaParts) ordered… Total labor should be something like 15 hours plus alignment… F*ck…
Yeah, the shop thought it was high too, but after double checking, apparently changing the steering rack on the C6 requires removal of a lot more than the other models. 15hrs on the steering rack alone. They’ll most likely cut me a deal out of compassion, but still… The bright side is that they (rack and control arms, etc) shouldn’t need to be done again after this for a long long time.
Yup! You will get at least 50k out of the control arms, maybe more depending on how much stronger and well designed the Meyles are over over stock. Also proper greasing and crappy roads and track days don’t help :-p but if you don’t he t why other replacing!
Control arms, I don’t have to replace but mechanic said they showed signs of stress and may as well get it out of the way. The steering rack, I’ll be looking for today. Not trying to pay the dealership price if I don’t have to, but I guess we’ll see soon enough.
okay so it ended up just being a bolt that was loose. the passenger side was loose (extremely). thanks goes to David and Jimmy for saving me from unnecessary/early work being done. may get alignment but that’s the gist i believe.
also, there was a delivery today… it was small, but still counts i guess lol.
Welp, update of the day… Uneven wear front left tire. Cupping on both rear tires. After an alignment that was done Thursday last week. If it were suspension, one would think they would’ve caught that Thursday. I also ran over the plastic base of one of those yield for pedestrian signs yesterday with front left wheel, so that could be it for the front. The rears cupping… I don’t know what could’ve caused that but sounds like the tires that came with these wheels are going to be throw aways unfortunately (fuccccck)…
I’d check the date stamp on the tires - they could just be past their ripeness Old tires killed Paul Walker! Uneven wear on the front - man, usually you have to do a few hundred miles at least on a bad alignment before that’ll even show up…were they new with the wheels or just new to you?
Yeah I’m thinking that’s the case with these. I texted the guy I got the wheels from and apparently they are old. Going to get some Michelin A/S3+ today I think.
