SIX6SIX - Intro Thread/Saga of S6 V10 Ownership

Forgot to mention, but I ended up with 275/35/ZR19 Michelin A/S3+

Nice, I believe a fellow forum member is running similar tire on s8 albeit the 20 inch wheels

Yeah they seem to be one of the higher rated All-Season options, so this’ll work. Looks way better with the meatier tires. I’m sure I’ll end up posting more pics in due time.

Sounds like a plan.

I had the 275/35/19 dws when they first came out on the 19x9 c6 s6 wheels, other than a bit of initial slop mostly due to the softer a/s compound then extra width it was pretty solid for DD. Was surefooted, but nothing like my vomit summers as expected. Ride was smoother though so that fits the bill 90% of the time.

My gut is the mich a/s will be even better as they tend to be a shade or more better than most contis. I’m running mich summers on all my vehicles right now and happy

I went with cheap AF WanLi 165/35’s for the new wheels - they’re actually not complete shite; the sipes are really deep and they did well in the snow and as good as can be expected on ice.

Now summer’s here and honestly they’re a bit noisy. serious hum over 50mph - I can tell how fast I’m going by the hum now. : / But $88/tire delivered, I’m not mad. Looking to get another set of wheels; forged monoblocks this time for the “summer” setup that I’ll probably put decent summer tires on, but for the price I can find zero fault with the Alzor wheels and WanLi tires at all.

Yeah so far no complaints about the tires. Definitely seem like they were worth the money. But can’t beat a good deal lol. On the wheels, I have 2 sets of 5 now, but may see about selling one set to get a set of rs6 20s. They’re like $22-2500 delivered with tires.

I might be able to get them cheaper

Forgot about that lol. I guess I won’t be getting them soon since I just got a new set of tires, but I will probably be in touch for a set of headlights within the next couple months.

Got so caught up in the sound that i forgot to take a picture of the milestone but I reached 77,777 miles on the clock today… “yayyy!”

Congrats, sounds like happy v10 motoring.

Congrats, sounds like happy v10 motoring.

Welp… Overheating issue this morning… After misfire on cylinder 4 yesterday (again) after previous replacement of coil and connector (one of 4 connections was loose according to the mechanic so he did some other stuff to address that he said). Anyway, hopefully nothing major, but I guess we’ll see eventually lol. Car was running fine this morning from home to gym (and back)… but when I got off the highway this morning it was rising above the mid-level rapidly. Lowered some after a little driving, then went back up (also after maybe 1-2 blocks of driving)… So now it’s parked here. We’ll see Wednesday I guess (the next day shop had open).

Sounds exactly like the same issues im having. Its sporadic as well. Some days it doesn’t overheat. Sit long enough and it will overheat as well. As long as there is airflow it won;t.

Yeah I literally just commented in your thread lol… Car dropped off at shop today. Prayers for the best lol

I would guess that the thermostat is sticking partially closed on occasion causing the overheating.

My A6 had the other issue of the thermostat sticking partially open. So it took forever to heat up and then as soon as I turned the heat on in the cabin, the coolant temps would drop but go back up as soon as I turned the heat off. After replacing the thermostat it is acting normal. Just had to wait until 315K miles to get to the timing belt replacement interval because the timing belt has to come off on the old 2.7Ts to get access to the thermostat.

On the V10s it should be just two hoses and then like 5 E-torx/reverse torxs bolts holding the thermostat on so it should be a lot easier. Hopefully it can be taken off without even moving the front end into service position!

Thanks Jimmy. I think that’s it. Will find out tomorrow I guess. Hope all is well. I still gotta come by and see/hear you monstrosity when it’s up and going.

Ok good luck.

My S4 has been up and running for a while. Just text me during the week and we can set up a time to go for a spin.

Sounds like a plan. It’s raining for the rest of this week I guess, but maybe next week. I should have my car back maybe by tomorrow. Thanks.

This happened to me. Ended up cracking my coolant tank, and end tanks on the rad itself. Turned out to be a faulty thermostat in the end.

I’d check the coolant tank and consider replacing it (it was like $70 for one) and the thermostat has an updated part #079-121-115-BA was $117.68 CAD at the dealer! It comes with the oring gasket too.

It’s accessible with the undertrays removed, just the top etorx is a little blind to pull out.

Yeah the shop still has my car and they ordered a thermostat earlier today from the stealership… hopefully all in and back to 100% tomorrow or whenever… as long as it’s back to 100% i can wait i guess
