I did not replace them. the misfires apparently have gone away after the change of those 4 coil packs. shop ran it for awhile to check, cold started, etc and they haven’t come back knock on wood… so i’ll keep hope alive for now and leave it at that lol. We’ve got HPDE this weekend at VIR, so fingers crossed for a clean smooth weekend ahead lol.
Also, I tried brembo pads last weekend at the track. The rears did fine. The fronts ate my rotors so I had to get new rotors and pads lol. I wish I had taken pictures of the rotor carnage, but just FYI in case any of you get brembo pads on stock rotors. Maybe I just got the only defective set out there lol
Airbag warning light came on the other day. No codes came up when I tried to scan with the basic scanner so I had to go into the shop this morning. It ended up being the driver’s side front crash sensor. ~$160 with shop discount. Labor time was like 30 mins at most.
Race pads by design will eat away any rotor. They are intended to have more bite. That aggressive bite usually destroys rotors after only a few sessions.
Was it a constant light or a light that only came on for the first few min of driving then it went off. If it came on and went off after a few min or after the car was warm this is somewhat normal. A lot of 2002-2009 Audis have this happen with the air bag system when it gets cold out.
Yeah, they definitely did their job then lol… Rotors were done. Back to normal pads for now I guess. I think the next buy for me for the car outside of maintenance stuff will be all of the suspension components from AKMotorsport ( https://www.akmotorsport.net/product-category/audi/a6-s6-c6-audi/ ) since it’s only like $700 worth of stuff. I was going to get this Passport 9500ci installed but now I’m leaning more towards just selling it and getting those suspension parts now instead of later.
It stayed constant. Never went out after the car was on. It ended up being that one driver’s side sensor. No codes since so it’s all good I guess. Relatively cheap fix so no complaints here.
So, was on the way to the track for an HPDE and the alternator decided it wanted to stop working lol…
Red voltage light came on, then went off, then came on, then went off… eventually it stayed on… I thought it was a broken alternator belt like last time, but nope, the entire alternator lol… welp, that’s $644 from the stealership… labor not too bad since they cut me deals here and there. I think it’s like 5 hours.
Yeah I probably would’ve just taken my car to Jimmy if I knew it was the alternator itself and not the belt again, but ah well. It’s all good. Hopefully will have it back at the end of the day or sometime tomorrow.
FYI, there’s a minimum 2 week back order on alternators for our cars, so I’d suggest buying one when you have the chance just to make sure you don’t end up being forced to wait like I am now…
I believe that plug/cap is on a pipe just aft if the alternator and aimed nearly directly at it if I recall.
Like most things, I’d imagine an alternator doesn’t take kindly to being covered in coolant and ultimately this caused it to fail.
Maybe these plugs should be changed once every 10 years? But if they do fail, clean off the alternation as best you can (I’d try brake cleaner)and cross your fingers.
That could be the cause, but I’d gone a few thousand miles I think since that happened. Also been to the track. Either way I guess a replacement is needed at this point, but yeah, live and learn lol.
Yep… The shop had the front end off the car and everything when they called the dealership to complain about them not delivering the part. The person in the dealership apologized for not checking with their warehouse when the order was initially placed, but yeah, 2 weeks minimum wait time… We’ll see how long it actually ends up being.
Passenger side DRL has one bulb that works while the headlights are off and doesn’t work while they’re on (as shown). Luckily there were 2 on eBay (1 new, 1 used) for under $200 including the 1 year Assurant protection plan (eBay warranty). Much better than the stealership price of $600+ https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180312/1d01f835b7911d6beffd059bc24d0817.jpg
