Skywagon's Return to the Dragstrip

maybe it was trap speed based. Shizzle will tell us

I think this might help.

Headers, exhaust, race gas, and meth for .032 seconds.

Yes I do, Saki. I never thought of the trap speed angle, nice.

Oh man, I wanted those 3 hundredths so bad so it could be unequivocal: pump gas, BONE STOCK exhaust, vs. 100 octane, meth, headers, etc.

But you’re right Sky, a win is a win. Congrats on the RS5, now I’m definitely faster!

On a side note, I also got some wheel hop on a couple of runs, it was not fun at all.

I think he still wins on that one…

p.s. that’s a great pump time. have you updated the results thread? bump it up with that. I have 3 additions to make (yourself, and RS7 and an S6)

Sort of out of context for this thread but…Saki, don’t forget to add me also.

4!

wrong thread

Ditto

The RS5 is not as fast, for sure!. However it has one thing the S4 will never have, a V8, nor will future S5s. They’ll be running a twin turbo 475 HP v6. Rs5’s will never be made again, that fact spurred me to get one before they were all gone. The only way we ever could have seen a legitimate race would have been side by side, on the same strip. I started a new thread on the A5/S5 thread titled Road Trip in a new RS5 if you are inclined to read it. Why my S4 was so difficult to squeeze in under 12 seconds I will never know. Thanks.

Interesting. Did you trade your car in fully modded? How did that work out?

Yes, but did take the Aquamist water/meth system off, it’s for sale. Took a beating but that was to be expected, no warranty. Nothing else was easily removable, headers, brakes, etc.

Wow. Curious where it ends up. Someone is getting a pretty modified car…

Thinking about it… I probably would have found a way to get the brakes and wheels off. I’d imagine getting the brakes back to stock wouldn’t have been too crazy even with the rear brake mods you did (it seems like un-doing those would be pretty simple?). I can understand the headers… The brakes and wheels probably could fetch $5000?

yeah totally. Get everything off but the headers. Sell it online. Put stock parts back for the most part. Find a junkyard A4 hood. Flash the REVO off.

Good to go.

Brakes will fetch $2000 if they’re mint. Otherwise, not likely.

Wheels are tough…it’s not like they’re a known commodity like a BBS CH-R that you can sell 10 sets of in a week at a fair price. These are pretty much one-offs and fitment is odd for an Audi, so it’s less likely to be succesful.

Forgot about the hood… d’oh.

I think you could get more for the front and rear Brembo kit; especially if you sell it with whatever he rigged up for the rear brakes. That’s probably $8000 in brakes new. I think $2500-3000 would be reasonable (the fronts should go for $2000 minimum). The wheels are still a known higher-end custom forged wheel. Admittedly, not a normal size, but I think someone would bite at $2000-2500 or so (my guess is the wheels are over $5000 new?).

We discussed this in skywagon’s for sale thread…he essentially can’t be bothered with the hassle, so I think he’s got an audi tech removing/selling the parts on ebay, and they split the cost. Something like that…

Hmmm… Interesting concept. Why am I not surprised.

Gents, if anyone needs some stock parts, brakes, rotors, springs, sway bars, exhaust manifolds, complete exhaust system (still in one piece) please advise. When I get the Ebay link I’ll post it. Been on the road all week. Thanks.
