Slightly OT: Q5 3.0T 1/4

Wow… talk about a sleeper. Wonder what he would run with a better DA/CPS/raised shift points…

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/548822-Scott-s-APR-Stage-2-Q5-at-Orlando-Speed-World-Dragway?p=8883552#post8883552

Didn’t we discuss this? Or was that somewhere else.

I reckon it’s exactly where it should be. It’s basically an A6 3.0T with a 250 lb weight handicap.

Different guy, different runs.

The one that was previously discussed was a 13.1-13.2 I believe. This is a 12.8.

On a side note, was out in Colorado for the 4th and met up with one of the local A6 guys. Has a Stage II 3.0T Avant in Suzuka Gray… Unreal car.

Yeah, high 12s is where we anticipated it would fall on pump gas with stage 2 (Q5).

What fuel was this 12.85 guy running?

He’s basically exactly like a stock B8 S4, so his weight and slightly unfavourable Density Altitude = tune/pulley and whatever else he had. Pretty interesting when you look at it that way.

p.s. any reason you didn’t put this in the Q5 section?

Wasn’t aware of that section. My bad. This site loads extremely slow for me. Not sure if it’s an issue on my end but I have painful wait times when navigating through the forum subsections, occurring both at home and work. Firefox perhaps? Chrome didn’t seem to improve anything though.

Not sure if you can move the thread but if so, I’d appreciate it. I’d delete/edit it if I had sufficient posts to take advantage of that feature.

Isn’t that thing running the zF 8 speed auto as well? Pretty damn impressive!

I think about trading in sometimes, but the last thing I need is another vehicle to fuck with. I have the S and my new TT F150, this would only worsen my complex. They don’t offer the black optic package that I’ve seen…so that is kind of a deal breaker for me…I also think the S-line wheels look horrible.

On a side not, a 12 sec grocery getter baby hauler is pretty fucking cool.

If you want to go fast in an SUV (I can’t imagine why you would) why fuck around with a $53,000 Audi Q5 with a small V6 and a small supercharger?

Let’s do this (incredibly confusing thing) right if we’re doing it. Used ML63 or Jeep SRT8 and that Q5 will be begging for mercy. Take the $2500 the Q5 guy spent on mods, and apply them to the ML63 or Jeep, and you’re approaching high 11s, nevermind trying to squeak into the 12s.

Level playing field other than mileage…since the Q5 has no warranty left.

SRT8 is badass. Pretty sure the one at the track when I was there last ran an 11.7.

Thanks for the forum change, Brandon.

TBSS and SRT8 are great for this kind of stuff. Relatively cheap to mod too. I wish we didn’t have to pay the German car tax on all of our mods.

I personally wouldn’t choose the Q5 either…my wife chose it. I really wanted to get her into an Srt8 Jeep, but she has some weird hate for them…like someone stole her lunch whose parents drove a Jeep when she was younger…lol

I don’t need anything that my wife DD coming anywhere close to 11s…period

Getting faster. 12.7…

This whole drinking/eating/distracting oneself while running thing needs to stop, though. I think Saki mentioned how stupid it was before but they seem to think it’s a great idea. This is now a different driver doing that stunt, one who significant experience at the strip too. One of them is going to have a blowout on their all-season tires and kill themselves… and their passenger… and the other driver.

Where is this shit track with no safety standards? No helmets, passengers…fucking douches looking around and holding one hand on the wheel…

I am impressed though with the performance of the Q5

A few things tbat are a joke. … the guy driving with the passenger shows just how stupid some people are I see the point he is trying to make but that guy should be banned from the track for that complete lack of common sence…

The only thing that is funnier is the UM tuned r32 with mods that is ower then stock…

Yes, I should be “banned” LMAO… That video, you’re referring to, was a “parody” video in reply to the guy in South Florida eating chips while drag racing. It’s the only time I have ever done that and honestly, can’t imagine the need to do it again.
The track does require helmets and they usually enforce it. I wear one when I drive my Golf R as they insist cars with t-tops, sunroofs, etc have a driver wearing a helmet if the car is faster than 12 seconds.

I leave the comments section wide open on my videos. Those of you with such a strong opinion should have taken advantage of calling me out right there. Surely you would have had others jump on that bandwagon with you… I would have replied as I am now; it was in fun and luckily nothing bad happened. Beyond that, it’s both hands on the wheel and my helmet on when they require it.

In the mean time, I would suggest you email the guys at Drive. They seemed to find humor in doing 150 while joking, eating sandwiches, filming a video, etc… All while passing other racers.

fast forward to the 10:20 mark to see what I’m referring to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrrwDHZUK6I

Those of you that can stomach to watch me do anything else in the Q5 or my old Mazda Proetege’ that I used to race in SCCA, you’ll enjoy these other videos.

Would have hit 160, if I had more closed course to run on:

Running my friend in his GTI. Currently the fastest stock turbo GTI in the USA:

Sorry, the new SRT8 Jeep is almost a second slower in stock form:

Me racing my Protege’ Ironically, I’m wearing a helmet, fire suit, gloves, etc… There is a bobble head hula dancer on the back deck, as seen in the mirror. Heaven forbid I be 100% serious:

Scott

How about you make an intro thread instead of using your first post to try and explain “how stupid you aren’t”

It’ll be clear whether you fit in here real quick…or not it’s truly up to you. But screwing around on the track, which should be way safer and more controlled than the street, shows yours I of responsibility for yourself, your car, and most importantly others.

We don’t get impressed here by show boating and using the excuse “the other guys do it” doesn’t mean much either

^^ That.

Nice videos Scott…liked the bumps you were giving the CRX, jeez even in the little cars it’s still racing…you still road racing?

I thought your drag vid was fine. I remember a similar high-12 run where I was pulling and turned around to see the face of a certain prominent board member here. He had no problems taking a hand off the wheel to show me a very prominent finger, I nearly pissed my pants.

These aren’t shitbox drag-only cars or anything like you see on pinks. On the road course we hit 120 on the straights every time and if I couldn’t look around my car or put my hand up to wave a guy by at that speed I wouldn’t be out there.

Scott I look forward to you bringing us a different experience and I hope you take that ride deeper into the 12s.
