So back to the dragstrip...... BOOM!

So been busy with my personal life but took some time to hit the strip today for the first time in about 2 months… Great conditions… Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a cammera man to tag along…

My Car: 2010 Audi S4 - DSG with sports dif, 7,002 miles, 1/4 tank of gas, tools and spare removed

Mods: APR tune, APR pulley, LFC’s, miltek non-res exhaust, custom intake, APR CPS, front and rear sways, Alu Kruez, Brembo BBK, JHM LW rear rotors, BBS CHR’s, tire pressure 38F 34R

Conditions: 48F, 46% humidity, 30.37 BP… DA was 348…

First pass… Car was fairly cool as I got there about 45 minutes early… Oil temp was about 160… Unfortunately, the car slightly hung up on the 1-2… I did however cut a 1.63 60ft time which is my best ever so it was looking promising… Ended up running a 11.90

Second pass… I hot lapped 4 minutes after the first pass! lol Felt good from the get go and I hit 5th gear pretty early so I knew it was a good pass… Sure enough a new best of 11.6944 @ 117.12 with a 1.64 60 ft time… I was f***ing stoked! See slip below…

Third pass… Hot lapped again 4 minutes later… lol Felt good also and backed the previous run up with a 11.72 @ 117.12 with a 1.66 60 ft time…

Fourth pass… I left the damn car in manual mode and it hurt the times… I ran an 11.95

Started to get crowded after that, I have a ton to do today and someone broke so I bailed with the car in tack and a new best… I’ll get the gopro vids up shortly…

Oh, this was done on Shell URT Advanced fuel… Let me know if there are questions/comments/etc. Thanks Ron

God damn man…that’s pretty awesome. The B8 60 foot times are insane. Even on pump gas 81bear was like 1.72 last Monday.

1.64 is getting retarded! We have to remember this is without launch control on an auto, launching off an idle.

Let me know what the octane is and if you have any new/different mods other than those lw rotors (just rears?)

Saki, Thanks man! Yeah these cars are short time monsters really… I actually had a 1.63 60ft time… I’ll post shortly… I think I could get a 1.5x really… I ran too much air today IMO… Here is the gopro… So bummed my brother couldn’t come… No other new mods other than the lw rears and gas… Same tune… Will send the logs to Arin for review and if they are willing a retune… I am going to but a few drums of this fuel but probably not until next season… I have a few pails for this year still… lol Here is the page on it…

1.63 60ft time slip for proof…

Good stuff bro! I have a new time to gun for! ;D

Not familiar with that shell fuel? what’s the octane rating?

damn nice work man

Nice runs man!! 1.64 is a pretty nasty 60’

Sorry about that.

am i the only one getting this message? I want to see if primetime still has happy hands

drumming on the wheel with the thumbs…gripping and regripping waiting for the lights.

Bear, Thanks man! Been looking at the logs… still have some timing pull… The Shell stats are below… w/o a tune it isn’t doing much IMO after reviewing logs… If it was still summer the gas would help more as it has very good cooling properties from what I have been reading…

Research Octane No.
115
Motor Octane No.
105
(R + M)/2
110

Beem, Thanks! Would love to see a 11.5x with this blower…

Euro, thanks man! Yeah I want a 1.5x though… lol

Saki, That was my bad it’s fixed…

cool so 110. Added to the database. That RS4 11.41 @ 125 is hearing footsteps…!

Wow that’s nuts Prime!

I totally forgot about you asking about the fuel. I’m curious to see how much timing and AFR your car runs…logs…you know you wanna share!

Bear said something about 104 tune…now your sorta-custom 100 tune does an absolutely ridic time. Both of you have the HFCs…cps…I’m starting to smell a trend. I won’t be in the S4 until next spring I’d say, but when I do re-tune and pulley, I’ll be asking Arin for a helping of whatever they’re serving you guys.

^^^ I think it would be neat to see how far you could go with just tune, pulley, intake, HFC, lw rotors, 100+ file. Basically a $4,000 list of parts.

I bet you get within a teeth on the same track same day. I.e. you vs bear…I bet it is really close.

Then you save the $2,500 exhaust, the $1,500-3,000 wheels, the $2,000 CPS.

Did you notice a significant difference with the custom intake? I learned / read the newer b6+ audi’s really dont gain much if anything at all from this mod.

AWE tried to sell me their intake and I told them fix my shit GIAC tune first then we will talk!

J, Of course I’ll share… You’ll have mail shortly… Hoping for another tune based on the logs that I sent over to APR yesterday… Will see though… Once you review the logs let me know your thoughts, please…

If anyone else wants to see the logs just email me at mustanggtron@yahoo.com and I’ll send them over…

bigserve, Not sure it is making a huge difference but I think it helps… First off I think the open element intakes work better on these cars and I have had the stock, strat, APR, and now custom… The custom is basically the same as the strat but I used much more heat resistant and used header wrap around it on the outside… I also used the heat shield from the strat one and the connectors from the APR as I think they look nicer! lol I tested the temp of the pipe wit the strat material and my approach and it runs significantly cooler…

Here is a pic…

^ That looks really good and I must agree with how you rationalize it. The heat shield also keeps cold air coming in from the other stock air slot up front. Something for me to reconsider down the road. Thanks

Bigserve don’t forget his engine is entirely different as are the heat characteristics of his small V6 + blower + huge cooling system vs your 4.2 V8, in the same chassis. What works for one"B8" won’t necessarily work for another.

Save your money re: an intake for your S5 4.2! The stock airbox is excellent.

Yeah Sak, I have a strat intake that’s not mounted, among lots of other suspension parts in boxes (full adjustable sways and adj end links, adjustable camber arms, H&R sports).

I guess 034 dropped the HFCs based on all the bad press from AZ, and people taking their dyno results at face value - what’s hilarious is that these are the faster cars at the strip.

Who’s still got 034 HFCs they wanna sell me?

Gonna look at that log, Prime…

Jspazz - Nothing special about my tune its straight off the shelf just ask for it as one of the options. However, I’ve never actually ran the 104 tune so it may be sh*t I don’t know!

If you still want the HFC or testpipes you can still get them you just need to email or call 034 motorsport Canada.

Sak - If you want to keep cost down I’d switch the LW rotors for LW wheels as mine were $750 and I dropped 9lbs per corner vs. rotors which I believe are at least twice the cost with less weight savings. Plus Jspazz seems to lover the road course and I can honestly say the LW wheels are most noticeable when it comes to improved handling than anything else! Further, I think once you free up the exhaust with HFC’s or testpipes you will see greater gains with the exhaust so I’m not sure it wouldn’t be a nice addition to his setup.

Back on track - PT if APR is not willing to retune your car you may see better results on the 104 tune as it should take advantage of some of that higher octane you’re getting with the Shell 110.

I would love to test that

We saw that revo tune guy go what…12.3 with tune and lw wheels and nothing else? That’s pretty compelling considering same day (Easter) 81 bear ran similarly. What was your time 81? What have you done since then?

You went 12.11 this week with everything, and no tailwind…he went 12.3 with tune and wheels at da +250 back in April . I reckon my guess of all the extra stuff only amounting to about one tenth isn’t far off. That assumes conditions are good. When it is hot, you need the supporting mods to keep it close as that but still it is pretty interesting how successful the car is with a minimalist modlist. That reminds NW I breed tho ad him to the database…he is called turbo baby or something I think?

Look at Richie vs Jspazz from February or whenever they all went to Atco. If I am not mistaken pump vs pump Jspazz and his tune/pulley was as fast or faster than Richie and his $12,000 modlist (headers, wheels, catless, cat back, lw rotors, CPS, intake, tune , pulley etc)

Beating your best time is always a wonderful feeling. Congratulations! and thanks for inspiring me to hopefully get to the track this week to do the same.
