So has AMDVIVAGMG decided what boost they're running? 10 PSI? 13? 14? 16?

Was reading an old thread, and the conflicting information was pretty shocking

It’s weird that JasonAMD wants to talk shit about the competition and act like he knows something about their kit boost levels, when he and his partner (and customers who own the kit) don’t even know what their own kit is doing.

The gmg webpage says 13.5 PSI on the ‘HIGH PRESSURE’ kit…the smaller pulley, bigger fuelling, bigger cooling kit. This is their $14,000 kit.

Then you have the aviva webpage showing 13.5 PSI as well.

Although you then have the guy who DESIGNED the thing saying 15+ PSI a year ago (see SCREENSHOT 1 from quattroworld below)…which they later recanted with ‘that was just during testing…it’s 13.5 PSI’

BUT…we have a customer, RS4per who has installed his own boost guage, who posted a video on youtube showing his AMDvivaGMG HP kit making 16.3 PSI

Kind of strange that there would be such a variance in claimed v. actual psi. 3psi seems like a pretty significant delta.

16psi is just :o :o on a stock motor. And I agree with Saki… how scary is it that a company that manufacturers and sells a product can’t give an accurate answer on how much boost their product runs!

I think he’s trying to blame the gauge from this quote

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/600226-JHM-Supercharged-RS4-loses-badly-to-AMD-Supercharged?p=9818515&viewfull=1#post9818515

[quote]So now it’s 16+? You’re one of those if you say it enough it’s true types right? We did have a car do a video that showed abnormally high boost from its P3 gauge - we have since compared it against other gauges and the dyno sensor and it is indeed 1.5-2 psi high but I shouldn’t have to explain these things. We have explicitly stated what run from the beginning and have shown more data and information than most.

Even if it’s 2 psi off…that’s still 14.3 psi the kit is running…nearly a full psi more.

Don’t those gauges read from either the EU or through vacuum tube? Do we know how his was set up? Anyone know how much of a difference, if any, that would make?

Mine is from a vacuum tube and it’s spot on. 5.8-5.9 PSI at redline. Exactly as JHM said it would.

So maybe his is ECU, and possibly inaccurate?

how would it be ECU? there’s no boost measurement function in the RS4 ECU, for obvious reasons.

Maybe they should just advertise their boost with an over/under.

Countvohn had made a point a while ago, that in his experience working with the design of OEM supercharged engines that boost is not specified. Pulley ratio is specified, boost is measured. You could get a fair estimate based on the blower size and the properties of the base motor, but its still only an estimate.

I wonder if the kit has the capability to bypass/relieve excessive boost?

I lol at your wonder

This just keeps getting worse and worse. Thank god for this site and you guys. You’ve really opened my eyes. I was open to all supercharger options for my car. I’ve seen how bad some of the actions are from the AMD guy. This however continues to show another level of buffoonery. Perhaps AMD should decide how much boost their kit makes before trying to call out JHM on theirs.

I have no clue, but their sales website gives the option. Maybe it’s just a default setting or maybe they are just that clever…

show me what you mean?

The P4 gauge that Saki circled in the first post reads off the ecu. It plugs right into the OB port.
Unfortunately mine only reads 2 psi right now :’(

But it could only read through OBD if your vehicle was equipped with the proper sensor.

If the car is not equipped with a MAP sensor then a boost tap would be needed.

Ahhh that makes sense now. It’s not reading from the ECU because there’s no map sensor to send a signal to the ECU. You’ll need to add the sensor.

Even if it’s 2 psi off…that’s still 14.3 psi the kit is running…nearly a full psi more.

Didn’t AMD do the install on the car running 16psi? So they’ve done all this work and decided their customer didn’t need an accurate boost reading? I think what’s more likely is that the car reads what the sensor says.

LOL yup. That guy per can’t have done it. Amd does everything on his car.

Let’s focus on the AMDVIVAGMG kit then. Curious as to why they haven’t posted. They’re currently suspended from Audizine for trolling, but they’re free to post here.

16psi +/- 3 psi
