So how bad am I going to lose?

Bear, I would say the LW rotors, lighter wheels and tires, etc are helping more in his 60’s than the tune, especially if he isn’t using the vaunted LC… I also think he gets the whole tire pressure optimization and shallow staging better than most…

Jeff was kind enough to send me his logs and I don’t think he will mind me sharing… He is bypassing a lot of boost and his IAT’s are way high for having a AWE cold front setup… The IAT’s I showed on a similar day low 50’s temp wise were about 10C better on average… Not sure if the system wasn’t purged correctly as I know others have had an issue with this… Or does the APR secondary pump help that much? His bypass valve opens quite a bit more than mine and mostly in the upper RPM’s before shifts… I also noticed his car over revs and goes over 7200RPM about a dozen times in 5 passes… The bypass reminds me of APR v1 before they sent me the few beta files and then came out with v2… I told him to send the logs to Austin and ask his thoughts since I’m sure he is more qualified than me…

His timing is very close to mine and he does have some timing retard but nothing that jumps out too bad… He pulled his MAF reading in a different measurement than mine so I haven’t compared that yet… IMO with a few small tweaks he will have the fastest car, which is why I made the title that I did, it wasn’t all tongue and cheek… lol

I was cutting 1.62-1.69 60’ all day. I did close to 20 passes total I believe.

I am resetting fuel trims this week.

As for the IAT, is it possible sitting in the staging lanes for even a little bit with the car running could have that much of an effect?

Has Auditude’s dad also changed his rotors/wheel/tires since his last few trips to the strip? Based on his most recent outing he also seems to be getting very fast 60’ times (1.67 sec) and I believe they both have the GIAC DSG tune.

Actually, other than the three of you (PT, Jones, and Aud’s dad) I don’t think any other B8/B8.5 S4 owner has run a 1.6x sec 60’? I now I never did…

Good point on Pete’s dad… He did have a better DA than Jeff, not sure what wheels and such he is running or if he messed with air pressure… Ryan has also gone 1.6x a few times if I remember correctly… So 2 APR cars and 2 GIAC DSG tuned cars… FWIW… I guess I’m still not sold on the DSG tune… Looking forward to seeing Jeff’s car in person and going for a ride in it to get a more realistic gauge on the DSG tune… Especially after seeing the lazy shifts on Doug’s(well_armed) car even though his is a B8.5

sounds like the Camaro guys/V8 guys are ‘jealous’ of your traction more than anything. Don’t forget that with tires and some mods, those cars (supercharged ZL1) are well into the tens at mid 130s MPH. i.e. 20 MPH faster than you. That’s with bolt ons.

Want to build one? How about 9 seconds trapping 150ish? The guy doesn’t look jealous to me.

I had one 1.6x 60 the other week.

And according to Austin, the speedo wasn’t keeping up with engine revs as the cars are shifting at redline in first and moving quickly at launch (not bogging). This is after logging 1fast the other night.

But yes, regarding the shifts, they were lazy in sport mode and giac is working on a fix. Apparently there is some safe mode for the car that is getting triggered that slows them down.

I should have gone manual mode that day.

My fathers car has stock rotors, stock cats and his wheels weigh I believe 49lbs and he’s 260lbs himself… I know that with some lightweight mods and a lighter driver it has a 1.5x 60’ in it because it was spinning ALOT yesterday and still did what it did…

So far I’ve seen my dads, Doug’s and Jeff’s car hit 1.6 60’ and 2 APR cars Ron and Ryan.

Maybe West can recommend some good slicks for your dad’s car?

Good runs. Congrats on winning!

Yeah, I watched those vids thanks for sharing… Both cars move out well… As for the 1.5x 60ft will see if he can make it happen…

As for DSG 60ft times in general on this car I think having the power(IE stage II) car is the most critical, followed by the right LW mods(IE wheels and brakes), knowing what your doing(IE proper tire pressure, and shallow staging), and a good DA vs a DSG tune… I guess will see how Jeff’s and my times compare when we run… He has now demonstrated some very nice 60’s but I think it’s more what I mentioned above than the DSG tune, who knows maybe I’m wrong…

I took a look at my slips from the last 5 times at the track… 14 out of 19 passes were 1.6x with about half of them being 1.65 or lower… Take out the 2 passes I made on 93 in a 2000DA with 37psi to try and prove my buddy Austin wrong and it’s 14 out of 17… Oh and 2 of them came on 93 at Dragway 42… Again, point being I don’t think the DSG tune is doing much for 60’s… Just my .02
