What a total waste of a day! Its sucks, because it could have been a good day. Supposed to be able to start running down track at 10am, which is the time I showed up, and the DA was -85. Awesome right? No because of course they didnt have the track ready till 11, which by that time DA was 353, still not bad. Finally they start racing and the 4th car breaks down, so we have a short delay that turned into a hour delay because it started raining. After the track dried, the first car to go down the track broke and was spitting antifreeze everywhere! So about another hour delay, and at this point I am fourth in line when what does it do… it starts to sprinkle again! After about 20 min delay, and the DA is now 583 I get my ONE run in and go home! Over 100 cars showed up to test and tune today and I wasn’t about to wait anymore.
11.91 @114.7 with a slight 1-2 hang up.
Congrats brotha!!!
Ron you whore! Bahah, so close!
Yes all the mods are currently on the car, might buy the jhm rear rotors as I am clawing for milliseconds at this point, with a better track and variables we will have a good battle, we will be making the V8 crowd jealous for sure.
I had two camaro guys come up to me and say, “I wish I would have bought the S4”. Apparently it was on their list but they didn’t think it was “fast” enough stock.

Going by your runs, Ron will have some good competition! !
Still jealous of you dsg guys… you have it so easy… fml!
Fwiw, I see you mid 11s in perfect DA, plus strip seats out and stuff…

Great times!
Gotta be happy.
Thanks for all the kind words gents, I feel like the car has an 11.5 in it for sure.
Looking forward to the next few weeks!
Congrats brotha!!!
Ryan, That sucks man and I have experienced similar a few times… Gets frustrating just waiting around especially when others break… Are the tracks by you open in Nov.? It’s the best time to run around here because it’s usually cold which makes for a good DA and the crowd is usually thin… I’ll go first thing in the morning bust out 5-6 passes wait and hour do the same and go home…
Jeff, Sorry! Would be nice to know if it was an LC launch or not I bet Austin and GIAC would like to know as well… Going to be some good close races when we meet… Most of the folks at Thompson know my car by now but it surprised many along the way…

Great runs Jones especially the 60’!
It’s odd as the GIAC DSG tune seems to help the most in the 60’ ET. Trap wise it there seems to be no difference, even with the raised red line. I can’t remember but does the 60’ require a shift with the DSG? If it does, that might explain why 1.6x sec 60’ times are becoming more common…
Damn I want to hit the strip so bad now! lol!
Bear, I would say the LW rotors, lighter wheels and tires, etc are helping more in his 60’s than the tune, especially if he isn’t using the vaunted LC… I also think he gets the whole tire pressure optimization and shallow staging better than most…
Jeff was kind enough to send me his logs and I don’t think he will mind me sharing… He is bypassing a lot of boost and his IAT’s are way high for having a AWE cold front setup… The IAT’s I showed on a similar day low 50’s temp wise were about 10C better on average… Not sure if the system wasn’t purged correctly as I know others have had an issue with this… Or does the APR secondary pump help that much? His bypass valve opens quite a bit more than mine and mostly in the upper RPM’s before shifts… I also noticed his car over revs and goes over 7200RPM about a dozen times in 5 passes… The bypass reminds me of APR v1 before they sent me the few beta files and then came out with v2… I told him to send the logs to Austin and ask his thoughts since I’m sure he is more qualified than me…
His timing is very close to mine and he does have some timing retard but nothing that jumps out too bad… He pulled his MAF reading in a different measurement than mine so I haven’t compared that yet… IMO with a few small tweaks he will have the fastest car, which is why I made the title that I did, it wasn’t all tongue and cheek… lol
Has Auditude’s dad also changed his rotors/wheel/tires since his last few trips to the strip? Based on his most recent outing he also seems to be getting very fast 60’ times (1.67 sec) and I believe they both have the GIAC DSG tune.
Actually, other than the three of you (PT, Jones, and Aud’s dad) I don’t think any other B8/B8.5 S4 owner has run a 1.6x sec 60’? I now I never did…
Good point on Pete’s dad… He did have a better DA than Jeff, not sure what wheels and such he is running or if he messed with air pressure… Ryan has also gone 1.6x a few times if I remember correctly… So 2 APR cars and 2 GIAC DSG tuned cars… FWIW… I guess I’m still not sold on the DSG tune… Looking forward to seeing Jeff’s car in person and going for a ride in it to get a more realistic gauge on the DSG tune… Especially after seeing the lazy shifts on Doug’s(well_armed) car even though his is a B8.5
I had one 1.6x 60 the other week.
And according to Austin, the speedo wasn’t keeping up with engine revs as the cars are shifting at redline in first and moving quickly at launch (not bogging). This is after logging 1fast the other night.
But yes, regarding the shifts, they were lazy in sport mode and giac is working on a fix. Apparently there is some safe mode for the car that is getting triggered that slows them down.
I should have gone manual mode that day.
