So I made my decision...

So… after much debate and some consulting with Arin and some forum members and such on what toy I wanted to buy I have made a decision… I ordered a 2013 TT-RS today, Sepang Blue, Tech. package, and heated front seats. Went with the dealer I have dealt with for over 10 years and got a very nice deal with no trouble… Car is not eligible for supplier pricing but I got right about 5% off the MSRP price and owner loyalty… Now the wait begins… Hoping to get it in early/late May, but will see… They are going to give me the schedule once the order makes it’s way through the system so to say…

Plans are to break it in once I get it and then get full exhaust, tune, and larger front mount… Then next year I’ll go APR stage III if it is out… Strip times the week I get it:) Promised my brother I would do some road courses so will see how it performs there as he has been bugging me to go with him as that is his thing…

Had looked at an considered a bunch of other cars, from a new Mustang GT, GT500, Z06, RS5, GTR used R8, used 911, etc. In the end the deciding factor was that I wanted a 6-speed car since my S4 is a dual clutch and I will still be keeping it and I just wasn’t sure I wanted to get back into a domestic so that ruled out quite a few… I really love the RS5 and that motor but couldn’t justify the extra 10-15K and no 6-speed really made that final… My wife hates the look of the GTR and that was the one car she really didn’t want me to buy and again it’s not a stick car… Given the nature of performance cars and their owners I decided I would go new so that ruled out the 911 and R8… The TT-RS concerned me a little since it’s not a Quattro car but after talking to folks that own them I have been convinced it will be just fine and I won’t push it to the point where it will be noticed since I am not a star driver on the road course… I like that it is very simple inside and I am not a big tech guy with my cars, heck I didn’t even get Nav on my S4. I did get the tech package more for the tunes… Very excited and now just have to wait…

Just thought I would share…

Also, this has no impact on my stage III decision for the S4, so hurry up APR :)~

holy shit that’s pretty neat. Those cars are retarded. Looking forward to seeing it…colour choice is excellent. Do they have an option for black window trim and gunmetal wheels? Used to be called Titanium package on the RS4.

I alos think of all the cars you looked at, that one makes the most sense. The RS5 and R8 are great cars, but too big, too much loot and a pain in the ass to get gains out of compared to the TTRS. The TTRS with the tune/exhaust/intercooler will pick up a quick 100 hp. Maybe more torque.

Also, the RS5 is too similar to the S4, and if you’re keeping the S4, that really narrows it down.

Yep there’s still a Ti pkg for the ttrs. There was a red cpo one for sale somewhere in the gta.

Congrats PT! Don’t forget the competition haldex mod for more rear bias as well.

good stuff, congrats. seems like a great choice

Thanks guys! Really stoked…

Saki, Yeah there is a sport exhaust/titanium package that gives you the same wheels but ti colored, the trim around the front grill is black and you get the sport exhaust for $2,700! So basically a different color wheel, one piece of black trim and exhaust for $2700… I’ll save that and buy a turbo back exhaust as I’ll go after market wheels sooner than later anyway as I am not a huge fan of the rotor style wheels or whatever they call them… I kind of wanted the CF mirrors but not for $1,900(3.3% of the car price!)… Only other option is the alu package which gives you an aluminum look for the front valance, rear valance, and wing holders at $950… Just don’t think it is worth that for a few piecses to be in different color so I will have the bodied color front valance and the black rear with body colored wing connectors… I debated deleting the wing but I kind of like it and the wife likes it! LOL I was dead set on Ibis but the wife really liked the sepang… I thought about a custom orange or imola but couldn’t justify the additional cost as Sepang is a sharp color IMO… I also got the full leather vs alcantara inserts… I do like the alcantara on the S4 but figured I would go full leather on this one as my B5 was full leather and I liked it alot… Besides I will only drive this 1,500 or so miles a year… Thanks again!

Yeah still learning about the car but that is something I will probably get… The whole haledex made me nervous but from what I read and heard from others it is a very good system and isn’t as bias as the older ones… Will see once I get it…

damn, let me know when you wanna sell it lol

Sounds like you bought it well. The wing is awesome. Let’s you know some serious business is happening.

Awesome, that’s pretty much how I would order a TTRS…hypothetically speaking of course.

Primetime baby primetime…prime…I love your s4 your attirude your aproch to posting and calking peoole out I love yiur recent great by and I love your signiture…let the ara of the prime one begin amd continue

Jealous, A local friend has a TT-RS, I still haven’t gone for a ride in it, I know I will have to have one, but unfortunately that isn’t in the cards for me right now.

The APR stage 2 tune apparently wakes up the sleeping monster

Wow I guess that I will have to check this section more often. I hope you really enjoy the TT-RS Prime.

My dealership had an all black TT-RS that was sold a few weeks ago and it was not my cup of tea but should be fun nonetheless.

Thanks! Curious on your comment about not being your cup of tea, is that just because of the car or were there things you didn’t like? Again, just curious… Thanks Ron

Thanks Saki.

I just think of TTs like mopeds and fat chicks - fun to ride but don’t want friends to see. Plus most of the time the seat was so far forward that I bearly fit.

They are very fun little cars that feel like they are on rails. I always liked the test drive after replacing the Mechatronics to readapt the Trans on the 3.2s. We had a few big turbo 2.0Ts that were a lot of fun since the boost didn’t drop off with the DSG or much with a manual. They are usually easier to work on than a same engine A4 but that doesn’t apply here.

By the way, it is VERY hard to beat the price of Audi Care on those cars by doing the work yourself. They need spark plugs and engine air filters earlier than most Audis, the Haldex fluid is expensive as hell, and it is easy to screw up changing that fluid. Especially the Haldex since the fill and drain bolts are right next to the 75W-90 diff fluid fill/drain bolts - I speak from experience. If it was DSG it would be even worse it takes a special fitting to fill up the Trans.

It is still better than the RS5 for maintance because I just found the 2013 schedule for my friends car. The RS5 needs air filters and DSG fluid/filter changes at 15K and 35K along with a sports diff ATF fluid change at 35K. That’s a new one!

Jimmy, Thanks for the honesty… Well I did ride a moped as a kid, actually used to drag race it! Nothing like a 28 second dial in and bracket racing a 8 second drag bike… LOL I hear you about the stigma though… Like I mentioned I had some specific wants in the car I was going to buy and this really fit the best unless I went a lot cheaper or a lot more expensive… Kind of brand loyal to Audi as well…

I ended up with Audi care on the S4 because I complained about the T-stat that got replaced… Originally, they gave me the 1 year warranty extension but after I whined some more they gave me Audi care as well… For me the problem is I don’t drive the S that much nor will I drive this that much… For example, I got the 15K service last year on the 2 year mark of buying the car, but the mileage was less than 6K… This year I’ll have less than 8K when I do the 25K service…

Just heard from the dealer… car got moved up for production from week 13(last week of March) to week 11 so they are expecting delivery the first week in May or second at the latest… Can’t wait!

Awesome, Prime - I’m so jealous! Looking forward to watching this develop.

Do you still DD the A4? I wouldn’t have the patience for that car with an S4 and now TTRS sitting at home.

Clochner, Thanks! Yeah I DD the A4 or Jetta… My wife and I used to commute together on the days she worked but Eaton built a new World Headquarters out in Beachwood which is a suburb of Cleveland so she is no longer downtown… I have actually been taking the bus and carpooling with a guy who works for one of the managers who reports to me… With the new casino downtown parking has gotten more expensive and brought even more rif raf…

As for the TT-RS I’ll make some passes first on 93 and then on 100 before I start modding and will make sure to make some passes along the way… Modding the RS will be somewhat predicated by when APR releases the stage III blower for the S4… Got to spread the expenses out so the wife doesn’t give me crap! LOL

nothing like getting moved up. I’ve seen that happen a few times with people. I’ve also seen ten times as many take longer so good for you.

I thought I posted this, but literally the day after you started this thread, Audi announced that they had stopped orders for the TTRS and production was finalized for North America. You’ll have one of the very newest TTRS cars out there. I think my RS4 is one of the last ones, built in March or April 2008 and put on the road in late May 2008.
