So, what's failing? What are you doing to prevent it?

Let’s take a moment to discuss what mounts, bushing and other items are failing under normal and harsh driving conditions.

So far I’ve seen the rear differential’s bottom mount rip clear out on our race car several years back, but we fixed that issue by making a plate that prevents the mount from pulling out.

What have others seen? What’s failing? What are people upgrading? And based on platforms from years past, what should we consider reinforcing should we chose to make some high torque awd launches at the strip?

My motor mounts were just replaced a few months ago, around 64k. Mainly my DD somewhere around 40-50 launches not a super aggressive driver but not lethargic either. My rear third brake light will randomly set off a bulb warning, haven’t looked into that yet. I also get the EPC light on cold starts, consistently. goes away after restarting. Shop took it to audi they point at the ecu and apr said that theres a harness they replace. shop says that the engine has 1 harness. So I’m a little sour on that. Thats my quick 65k miles update, everything else is maint. or TSB’s such as the thermostate and rear dif seal.

Do you have any more info on the mounts? On my own car I’ve pretty much always noticed a pretty harsh feeling on and off the throttle and I’ve suspected it wasn’t normal.

id be interested in some sort of rear diff mount for sure, loved the apikol on my rs4

Apikol makes one for the B8 S4 too if I’m not mistaken. How did it feel? Which did you have (Race or Street)?

IIRC we kept this stock on the race car and simply beefed up the mount’s bottom so it couldn’t rip out.

Apikol does make one, comes with 2 inserts and is under $100 if I remember right.

Arin, for the mounts they noticed the pass. side leaking when they had it in the air. Car didn’t seem too bad, Even after they were fresh I would still get a little vibration. I went OEM as there were no aftermarket and noone I got in touch with had anything I could test.

wow i never noticed they had that out, will it fit cars with sport diff or is it for the standard diff only

"Hi Luis, yes, the Apikol B8 Rear Diff Mount Kit absolutely works with your sports differential! Actually, one of our first prototype testers was a local customer with the APR Stage 2 pulley, DSG, and Sport Diff.

Best Regards"

yep

ordered lol

race or daily? I assume the rigidity/stiffness is the difference in the two? Can I install this in my garage or do I need a lift?

i went with daily(its what i had on my rs4 too), i did the last one on jack stands

Thanks! Ordered as well… I went with the race because S4=race car! LOL

Awesome I was waiting on some end user reviews. Can you guys just mention how the two inserts feel when they’re installed.

what’d it do? I haven’t done any mounts (or anything) to my RS4

On quick shifts it just makes the whole driveline more firm and less sloppy… My dad had it on his RS4 and i loved it.

it really did a great job of limiting the forward to back drive train slop

This seems like a no brainer for the price and easy install. Might have to order one as well.

So it helps with the bucking in stop n go traffic? That alone would make this worthwhile.

Just like on the B6/7 S4s, this was literally my first mod because the slop that I could feel in the shifter was just plain annoying. It just felt like it made the car feel 10x better, even at stock power levels.

wow really? I will need to get to work on that
