I knew you knew, so I put a knew in your knew so you can knew while you knew
I would pm the count you already have a jhm tune. .he would be able to add more 8nsite and direction then all of us combined
Already done
That was good
It seems were chasing the same rabbit… other then the poont that E85 is drastically better then standard petrol we seem to be on a similar page
Let me ask this undoubtedly uneducated question (then again, that is why questions are asked).
Can the me7 tuned for pump gas adapt to fueling conditions that will see any positive results by mixing e85 and pump? My guess is the short and likely long answers are no?
Other platform forums like BMW, dsm, domestics, etc…forum members and topics indicate it can be done successfully
You can for sure. When I was stage 2 in my B5 I had the GIAC 93oct tune (a New York car), and in UT all we have is 91 oct turd gas. I would regularly fill with ~25-30% E85 to bump the octane up, and the car had a noticeable bump in power. Same with my GIAC stage 1+ B6 1.8t. Almost every single tuned B5 S4 has some sort of corrections under some circumstances (especially 91 oct), so you’ll likely gain a little by running race gas or a small percent of E85. As notorious said though, be careful about putting too high of a mixture in, as too much and you’ll reach the fuel trim adaptations limit and throw a ‘too lean’ code. Err on the side of too little E85 over too much.
If you have a real tuner playing with your car though, then it makes no sense to play around with these mixture hacks though. Just get an E85 tune and a pump gas tune.

Indeed. The car is tuned by a real tuner. I am working to that end and hopefully get there sooner than later.
K series is where its at. They make more hp all motor then a audi 4.2L v8
this one make about 380-400whp N/a out of a 4 cylinder
The article was well written, but that was in 2010 and that was only covering a few aspects of the fuel. Being that I have been a big part of the flex fuel program at SVT you tend to see many things that don’t quite add up as “E85 the greatest fuel ever”. While E85 is billed up as being a magic fuel, it has it’s dark sides. The issue is many people don’t’ talk about the down turns. Many people don’t get enough time using the fuel or even looking into the motor to see the issues that come with it.
Very interesting post. When will SVT be doing flex fuel stuff on the raptor and are they working on it in Dearborn or Sterling Heights? That is really cool that you are a big part of that program at SVT, Kurt.

There’s a very simple way to do it, and it’s the best way.
Phila_dot has MAP switching code that you can have 4 different map setups for fuel, timing and boost.
So you can switch between fuel types etc on the fly. I personally run the code on my S4.
It also flashes the CEL if you get knock over a set amount too.

He doesn’t tune himself and JHM doesn’t have a map switching routine as far as I know, so he will probably have to flash the ECU when he wants to change fuel types.

JHM im 99% sure has the map selector on cruise control stalk option to switch maps

I’m actually 99% sure they DON’T. I believe their relationship with APR is just for the ability to encrypt their tunes, not select from the stalk.

Im pretty sure the Count has said other wise!

I didn’t know they had a relationship with APR… I guess it is possible then but I haven’t seen it and it doesn’t say anything on JHM’s site about offering it (it’s a pretty big thing to offer IMO), didn’t VAST also have a thing with APR using their encryption etc?
so many people that are 99% sure all the time…

That’s correct. And the same person who had the relationship with APR while at VAST has moved on to JHM, which is why I believe he encryption is what they use with APR, not the tune changing in the stalk.

Ok, I’m 100% sure b6 s4s are slow…flame suit on.

Haha, I’ll help you…say B6/B7 because I have a B7…and it makes a B5 body styling look like a fucking Ford Pinto. Just keep with that collection of B5s dude, I’m not sure you realize how the slow/fast game is going to change soon, but there won’t be many B5s around that will be able to touch these slow V8s.
I’m 100% sure that you idiots don’t even know how to post without fucking up the quote script…

If I wanted a supercharged v8, the Audi 4.2 would be the LAST motor I would do it on.
