Stage 3 B8 S4 vs. Stage 2+ B8 S4...what is the true delta?

what the fuck…can’t see the launch, the tires, the interior…nothing.

these guys are fucking retarded

Yep, my thoughts exactly… something isn’t right… Also, I’ve only watched on my phone but it looks like the video is pieced together… Does anyone know what track that is?

Looks like Sac Raceway

it is. Eurocode…going after a particular demographic I guess?

On my way, to Sacramento, late night!

That was ridiculous…but then again wasn’t paperfag their biggest fan

No exhaust at least by the video

For those following at home.

Seems maybe the 10 second run just recently wasn’t so impressive

This might explain why the secret and elusive attempt on eurocode to provide information.

My response on the AZ thread.

[QUOTE=jran76]First off, thanks for the post, and congratulations on the time and record.

What do you mean by ran dump tubes? No exhaust at all? Exhaust system was installed, but the exhaust was dumped before the catback? Any idea on how much weight was removed on the interior, exhaust, etc.? Also, last question, is this the standard tune provided by APR right now?

Sorry for the questions, but obviously this has been a hot topic of debate. Not wholly blaming you guys here, but I don’t understand why we can’t get a time from a car with a “normal” setup instead of the hail marry pass. I’d be happy if you just ran the normal exhaust, interior, and wheels to be inline with pretty much every other time on the current list.

While it’s awesome that you broke the record, and did what you did, it does absolutely nothing to tell us what the kit is really capable of in normal street trim (I’ve seen stage 2+ cars do 123 mph, so…). I get that it’s not your responsibility to do this, but it would go a long way to appeasing everyone (especially based on past criticism of the kit) if this was done before we see these types of hail marry passes.

Again, kudos for the time you put down, this post, and the work you have done on this platform. As someone that would like to see this kit become a viable option, I still don’t feel like we are a whole lot closer to really knowing what the kit can do.

[QUOTE=jran76]I’m definitely not trying to be a jerk, and I do think it’s a cool accomplishment. I can also understand that there is something to be said for doing something first. I have no problem with seeing a hail marry pass and record, but it would have been even better to see what it could do in something closer to every other car on the 1/4-mile list FIRST.

It sucks that the only 1/4-mile passes we’ve seen have been completely unrepresentative of how the kit would be run any other time. Outside of the APR hail marry pass the first time, and Eurocode now, all we really know is some of the Cali guys are saying they’ve seen a stage 3 car walk a stage 2 car and Auditude’s (really fast) stage 2 car absolutely destroying Richi’s stage 3 car. And, we’re still no closer to having any real idea as to what the kit can do. Just seems like a strange way to market a kit like this outside of a few early adopters that don’t care (and maybe a few suckers).

My hope is someone is going to make it to the track soon in something that resembles a S4 that the rest of us drive, and this whole thing is put to bed. It shouldn’t take much to do that at this point if the kit is really done and ready for public consumption.

I think those are great responses.

Looking forward to what EC has to say.

There is a difference when someone asks those same questions and they are trying to prop up another companys product. Thats not the case here. Your asking real questions that the guys in the industry want to know and if they are smart they would answer honestly. But it looks like they are hiding things.

I dont own a B8 but if I did I wouldnt buy a stage 3 at this point and everytime a stripped out car runs down the track and is barely faster then a full interior full weight stage 2+ car it just sinks the argument more and more

the problem with your post is that what you’re asking for will destroy kit sales. The last thing Magnuson, APR, EUroCode, all the moron dealers want to see is a B8 S4 3.0T with stage 3, Milltek catback, 19" wheels with street Michelins run at the drag strip on race gas or pump gas. Why?

Race gas will run about 11.2-11.3 @ 123
Pump gas will run about 11.6-11.7 @ 120

The same guys who want 1/4 mile numbers also understand that this can be accomplished with stage 2 or 2+, so who in their right mind would buy the kit? No, they want to sell this kit as ‘10 second capable’ and will use the dyno. You will NEVER see them post a real world time.

‘2000S4’ went 11.66 @ 118 MPH on a pump gas tune (he ran a mix of 94+some 98 octane to be safe as this was in development), intake, 2 pulleys and wheels that weigh the same as stock. He spent less than $2500. When he gets a race file and puts 104+ octane in the tank, then puts on a set of 24 lb , he will match the stage 3 kit. No other mods.

There are a few APR and GIAC guys running tune/pulley/lw parts/intake/cooling and they too are deep into the 11s.

Is it realy worth an extra $5,000-6000 to go stage 3?

not even close.

You like to say the fastest cars have all kinds of mods and therefore to go fast you need to spend stage 3 money anyway. We know that most of those mods are doing very little or nothing. Exhaust? Headers? Cat replacement? Meth kits? Not adding anything. Meth you might argue for but that’s basically running race gas because the meth guys run meth + pump on a race tune. So yeah, not adding anything.

So if you follow the proven performance formula, you can spend a fraction of stage 3 money and approach or match stage 3 performance.

p.s. that EuroCode stage 3 car? About $20,000 in modifications. So there’s that.

Richi coming out to us Tues night. Weather looks good and everyone available.

audizine is making my eyes bleed…

specifics? Always good for lulz

just all of it. the entire roll out process is a joke. and I’m actually not hating on EC on this one, they ran what they ran which is awesome… particularly Eurotek who is still continuing to distribute misinformation… now in the form of HP claims

The way I see it, this roll out MIGHT had gone smoother had Leo from Eurotek never chimed in from the start since literally everything he has posted has constantly been a topic of discussion in the wrong direction.

I still think there is more in these cars(not stating the cost per hp is worth it to everyone at the moment) and like stage 2 when that first dropped, it will continue to progress IMHO.

I don’t hate that they ran 10s…that is pretty cool

BUT, I hate how they gave snippets of info…someone mentioned it, but they were going to leave the info as is and try to pump as many of these kits as they could…but things didn’t go as planned because of AR and a new honest member.

He screwed their entire plan.

Here’s some lulz:

[QUOTE=Rex Wilkinson]So I just bought my 2016 S4 a couple months ago. Before I decide on a tune I am getting the car ready with intake and exhaust. My ECS intake arrives tomorrow and will be installing AWE touring exhaust system with resonated down pipes. Originally I planned on going with the GIAC/AWE stage 2 tune but this has peaked my interest only because I have not invested any money into a tune yet, and I want to make my daily driver fast as possible. I guess my question is first will this system work well with the systems I am installing? Second, I know the car is 333hp from the factory. What are the hp numbers I should expect to see after the stage 3 installation, in particular on 93 octane? Third, would I need to install an upgraded cooling system?
From what I’m reading it sounds like this product may do better with the new S4 owners who have not already dropped thousands on stage 1 and 2 tunes. Perhaps you should market it that way to help justify the price by showing a very large HP gain over stock. That being said, I think what you should do is sell me this product at a deep discount so that I can go around telling people, espesially new S4 owner how bad ass you product is and how they all need to get it.

:o ;D

Eurocode ran 10s with a kit that wouldn’t do much damage against a well appointed stage 2 car (certainly not enough to warrant the extra $7000 ($9000 - tune - pulleys)

So that in itself is pretty sad…but let’s call a spade a spade…they tried to pull a fast one

They released a snippet of a timeslip because they knew we’d figure out it was stripped and runnign slicks
They released a snippet of a video because they knew we’d see the slicks and hear the open dumps

It’s quite clear that their plan was to tease this information to help sales. Looks like APR were in on it.

Danavon7 ruined everything lol. Kudos to him for blowing the cover off.

i feel the need to step in a little bit with that. the second i heard about the 10.9 i texted dave right away for details and at no point did he hide any information from me. he told me right away that the seats were pulled and the tires were slicks(then i saw a ton of conflicting info about the interior but that was my mistake) and the race gas.
I’m not entirely convinced they were going to hide it but i dont know
