Lol, sorry didn’t try to shoot off into massive NBA vs NHL debate!
I too used to love the NBA back in the MJ days…I feel like Carmelo’s generation (maybe even as early as Iverson) kind of killed it for me. Too much me me me, too many advertising dollars and ridiculous contracts, musical chairs for rosters, shitty teams tanking to try for the 1 pick, guys shooting 7-35 per game (MJ used to, but back then you felt like he deserved to), 24 second shot clock pretty much mandates fade away jumpers…
Now it’s some horrible rap song, annoying talking heads talking about “Lebron’s legacy”…just a whole bunch of who the fuck cares. And the basketball isn’t exciting until the last 5 minutes. But I did like going to Celtics games while living in Boston…now that is a great all around sports town.
But big time college bball is incredible, real rivalries with fan bases that are tolerable, tons of strategy and differences in the game, not so many timeouts, arena atmosphere that hasn’t 110% sold out to corporate culture…
But yea…going to a northwestern game isn’t gonna give you the feel of big time bball Just like going to a clippers game used to be a joke.
As far as bad ass…I think when Duncan Keith had nearly all his teeth knocked out from a slap shot, went into the locker room to get stitched up, and then returned for the 3rd period…wow wow ow :o :o
There are a few prima donnas like crowsby, but the majority of NHL players are expendable (even the best players are barely on the ice for 1/3 of a game) and aren’t zillionare morons like their NBA equivalents. They know when they’re done they probably won’t get to become a talking head on sportscenter and actually try to make something of themselves. But that’s a pretty sweeping generalization ;D
I live in Ohio we have usually only have one option for sports. Ohio State football but this year we get 2 Ohio State football and The Cleveland LeBron James’s. I guess we have a hockey team that almost does stuff every few years but, having lived In Columbus and actually within walking Distance of Nationwide Area I will tell you the City as a whole hardly cares. Its more of a novelty. If they bring home a Stanley cup. The would probably set in the trophy case behind all The OSU national championship trophies right next to the Columbus crew’s MLS championship trophy, the arena football championship trophy and the WNBA championship trophpy.
LOL @ Martin San Louis in the first 5 min of this game. Misses the goal from 1 ft away after some perfect sauce from Hagelin, then whiffs on a slap shot at the point during a 5 on 3 which gives johnson a break away…and then he skates right into lundqvist to push the puck in. :o :o ;D
