Looks like youāre somewhere between $14-20,000 awayā¦ Thatās kind of nuts in itself, how far weāve come. I remember being happy to get my car in the 14s, 20 years ago, and going to bikes to get a decent speed fix.
I was lucky to get pegs on my new huffy 20 years ago, haha. I was just thinking that is a crazy fast car for some asshat to buy that has the occasional road rage or fucks around on his/her cell phone while driving all the time. It is no joke to have 600hp at the end of your footā¦AWD or not and these things probably arenāt exactly nimble in the turns.
^Really makes you wonder where cars will be in the next 15 years.
The E36 M3 was considered pretty damn fast in itās day, and now a new Corolla could match it to 60mph.
600hp is a lot, and itās not going to be long before more and more cars commonly hit that number. The limits of tires can only do so much though to keep people on the road with that much power. My porsche regularly keeps me in check when boost hits in 1st-3rd gears, and thatās only at 430whp and big ole rear tires.
You of all people should know that if you want to make a claim, like you did about plenty of Benzes tune only running mid 10s, then it is on you to provide information to support such claims.
Race gas and meth are completely pointless to me. I consider myself an average punter. When I go down the pub with my friends and talk about cars, I talk about the new and exciting things happening in the Audi world. To a man, they agree the most relevant data is from cars running gas you can get at Shell/Petro Can etc. Itās not like Ferrari or Porsche say hey look at how fast our car is (on race gas).
E85 is different because in some states it is gas for the average man. My friends impala can run it!
Well in the NFL the average punter makes $868,005, about on par with Canadian doctors and could probably afford the race gas no problem
I dunno. I donāt street race asides from the odd impromptu fun, so pump gas āperformanceā is pretty meaningless to me. Iāve been to the real street races many many times too, north of the city back in the dayā¦they were practically sponsored by VP haha. Trailered cars and all.
I donāt generally go to the track to measure times, just to have fun and race people. Maybe thatās not like everyone on the board here, but I have my fun when I go and sometimes the conquests are worth it (lol see earlier this thread). So if race gas and 40-90 hp more will help me, Iām on it every time. Anyway I know in not alone on this board.
Iāll never get the whole ātrailered carsā to a street race thing. How much sense does that make? and what is the point of having a gutted caged car go fast on a street and not a track. Iām all for some nice street pulls, but all out race cars running sounds like a great way to die or kill spectators.

Race gas for the winā¦ I just prefer it all the time in my fun carsā¦ No denying the improvement of it on our cars and all FI cars for that matterā¦
Yeah Iām in total agreement with you. Although it seems you too have seen it doneā¦ I find it hilarious, "oh yeah I just happen to be driving by, two in the morning, trailering my racecarā¦ "
I donāt get the whole beef with meth. Well when people run it 50/50 (like 95% of people do, running 100% meth is frankly a bit dangerous due to its low ignition point). Iām planning it on my car and itāll be on the car in a 50/50 or 75/25 mixture full time and is boost activated. So once I hit 0.3 bar itāll gradually be pumped in. But point is itāll be on the car running all the time, and in that configuration, will only have to be filled up once a month or even less (about every 5 tanks of gas, depending on driving style of coarse).
In fact, JHMās supercharger kits initially planed on using meth as a stg 1+ or stg2 kit depending on motor limits. My intake tube that connected the blower to throttle body already had a meth bung hole built in. Obviously they went a different direction though which is fine.
I do think it should be listed as a mod though, as itās definitely not comparable to just a āpump timeā performance, but I think itās reasonable to run on street trim for every day use and can be beneficial and safer to the motor if tuned and installed correctly. (Mine has a flow meter and pressure tester so if at any point it fails the turbos are cut to wastegate pressure and not running any higher boost so minimal risk).
I almost think E85 is more of a asterisk than meth. Most of the cars running E85 are E85 dependent. As in canāt just mix in one or the other. Therefor you canāt drive any further than you can find a station with it or else your stranded. Now some of the newer cars are tuned with the flex fuel sensor that lets you run full gas, full E85, or anywhere in between which is pretty cool and adjust accordingly.
