Stepping into a JHM Stage 1 kit

I really can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the positivity from you guys. This job hasn’t been easy and the fact that this forum has serious enthusiasts that understand the task at hand is damn nice. Thanks for that!

And fired up for the first time. ;D We have an issue with belt alignment though as it started chewing the belt. You can hear it a little in the video. Working with Jake and Dan now towards what we might have done wrong. Any one else with any suggestions, I am all ears… Other then that started up and idled issue free. Done for the night.

Arggghhh…ok…how do I embed a video?

Also, euro…thanks for the advice! Everything is now nicely secured down there.

Awesome work man, or should I say your buddies? Excited to hear how the first drive goes…remember, VIDEOS!

Upload the video to AR through your profile and host it here!

Even more praise deserved if your winter is as fucking cold as ours!

^^It hasn’t been warm! But the shop is heated.

Ok, let’s try this.

looking good 930chas i bet you cant wait to get it on the road.
i will be fitting a stage 1 kit soon, so all your pics and info are much appreciated.
the guys at jhm are just working through a couple of adjustments needed due to the differences between l/h/d and r/h/d rs4’s, hopefully not much longer now.

Nice progress!

I have thrown a few belts with my SC from free revving in neutral. You know showing off the exhaust. But it isn’t cool when the red battery light comes on.

This is the hose that I was talking about before. I wonder if they put that support pipe inside to prevent that hose from suctioning closed. If I remember right, it was 91GL that said it looks like the engine is sucking in a ferret every time you rev the engine with this SC kit.

Are you talking about the black step up piece between the SC outlet and maf boot in the picture below?

I can see silicone hoses that connect to the PCV opening on the back of the valve covers. That is a nice change from the plastic hoses that like to break with age.

It is dumping on us now. Depending on where you look they are calling for like 5-8 inches to night and 3-6 inches tomorrow into tomorrow night.

Nice job! It def looks like a couple small changes continue to be made to the kit. The metal piece between the TB tube and the SC up-pipe looks very different, wonder why.

Also agreed about the new reinforced intake tube. Probably not a real issue on the stg1 kits. But 2/3 could become problematic.

Also, the new intake cone is a much better choice, if mine wasn’t positioned just right it could get crunched from the good and deformed some.

Awesome work though, doing this remotely on your own is awesome. And going forward you’ll have a much better feel about what everything is better than most. Which could prove to be very beneficial if you run into any issues.

Finally, jimmy / op, I’d wage to say with the blot wrapped and tightened properly, I don’t think you should every be able to throw the belt. The. Only time I ever threw a belt was when I didn’t have it routed properly once, and the other time I had an idler fail. So throwing a belt with the 5 rib setup shouldn’t be an issue.

x2 Or you’ll end up with a photo looking like this:

^^Dohhh…Definitely wouldn’t want this to happen. The oil line are wrapped up nice and tight.

Found the cause of my belt issue. We hadn’t trimmed enough plastic off the surround around the core support and the belt was hitting it. Trimmed a tad more, installed the new belt and all good!

I have yet to throw a belt but I did get the red battery light so I’m going to tighten up the belt a bit.

Glad to hear was a simple fix!

Jake, I knew it was installer error…just was hoping it was something simple. Luckily it was!

I noticed in your thread on AZ flying-tomato was trying to cause some drama. He seems way too interested in shit-talking APR’s competition, don’t you think?

Someone asked him if he received a discount on the APR kit. He is turning into ngng part 2. ngng was one of the promo kit recipients from VF engineering on their S4 kit. He was rabidly going around attacking JHM and pumping up the VF kit in every thread he could find. Then we found out he was actually given a deal on the VF kit and was promoting the kit on the forums as a result.

I sure hope flying tomator paid full price, but I’m getting the impression he got a sweetheart deal and is doing his best to earn his discount by attacking JHM and promoting APR on QW, AZ etc.

Yes, I agree completely. He either get a sweetheart deal or has a serious hard on against JHM, or maybe a little of both. Either way, a thread detailing all the hard work and effort that goes into a supercharger install isn’t the place to make snide comments.

Link to AZ thread?

Here’s where his whining starts…

930, Oh and very awesome install pics such… thanks for letting us follow… Can’t wait to see some vids of the car in action… 1/4 passes please ;D

930chas where are you located? Did you ever take the Benz or GTR to the strip?

Thnx, Ron. FT always seems to find a way to bash the JHM kit. I noticed that he didn’t answer NY07S4’s question regarding whether he received a discount on the APR blower. That really should be disclosed.
