Stepping into a JHM Stage 1 kit

A few more pictures…

A little clearance work. This was actually so much less then expected. I can’t believe that it was actually a concern before purchasing the kit.

Before everything goes back together we are going to give the engine/compartment a good cleaning. Should knock an easy 10 lbs of weight off the car! ;D

how about carbon? was that already addressed?

Good work getting this knocked out. Glad to hear you weren’t as concerned about the clearance work as that KYUSS guy was. As you now know, it’s really just trimming two supernumerary pieces of metal back.

Good to see Chas!

Kyuss was a bit concerned about that. Hopefully he sees this thread!

Jake

LOL…yeah that damn kyuss guy. His worries were completely unfounded.

It is a brand new intake (maybe 1500 miles) so yes, no carbon issues.

Post the chassis “obliteration” pics on AZ and QW.

That install is sweet sweet porn.

the carbon is not on the intake manifold…but the valves. did you get the carbon cleaned off the back of the valves?

it is nice to see an actual example of the cutting that needs to occur to install this SC. i am sure some will still say it is too much.

nice progress and thanks for the pics.

Great stuff. Thnx for posting the pics. Keep us updated.

Great progress man, excited to see her buttoned up and some performance reviews!!

You mean the same pictures I have posted numerous times when the hacking up your unibody “issue” arises.

The problem that characters like benstlie and daytonaroadracesuperstar bring up

Not much happened this weekend unfortunately. I was driving my son all up and down the east coast for hockey games (not really, but it felt like it ;), and my friend’s well decided it didn’t want to pump water anymore so the weekend was basically a wash.

Got a few things done today though, including breaking the center pin on one of the two throttle body potentionmeters…dohhhh. Luckily was able to source a replacement that should be arriving in the morning. If everything then goes as planned, hopefully we will be firing her up later in the day…but when do things ever go as planned??

Anyhow, here are a few pictures from this afternoon.

Looking good!

Thanks Jake!

Also, just to clarify the a/c line in the fender well is not tightened into place yet. Once it is, it will be tucked up completely out of the way.

Very good.

Maybe someone from JHM can clarify… What change was made to the new intake hose (from Sc to tb)?

Two of the early beta cars (circa 2012) had it come off. Just wondering if there was a revision in clamps.

Enjoying the photos! Looking forward to more!

The two piece intake hose looks like it is for the RS4 only and the s4 gets the one piece hose.
On the s4 my AC lines are zip tied and strapped securely at the very top of the fender. Tucked far away from that tire.
Looks like u are having fun. All that hard work will pay off soon. Then u won’t have time for the forum lol.

It has been slow going the past couple days as we prepare for what looks to be a pretty serious snow and ice storm. We plan to have it mostly finished today but at this point with the storm looming, no rush. Definitely looking froward to enjoying the new found power next week during the warmer temperatures.

A/C line tucked up in fender.

Make sure to clearance and zip tie those oil cooler lines really well! You don’t want them rubbing on each other or anything else.

One thing I always think of are the clamps I use at work for wire harnesses, oil, hydraulic lines that could really fix this issue. They are called Adel clamps and are great for keeping lines from chaffing. The MV22s vibrate like crazy, especially out in the nacelle/engine area. If anyone wanted a few I could probably hook it up because we throw perfectly good ones away whenever we are doing new installs. All I would need is the line diameter.

Omg Haha I can’t believe that is the frame cutting that everyone is talking about? Soo the excess material, after the sheets have been pinch welded, is folded over? And at the front rad support mounting locations we are cut 1-3mm on the bottom corners… That looks to be all of it?

Man If people saw the C-notch in my MkV GTI they would probably think it’s about to explode.

Forgot to say, you guys are doing a wicked job! Working through everything farely quickly! Really enjoying the photos!

Euro any chance you would be able to hook us up with those clamps? They definitely look to be very handy, not to mention keep the install really clean!

Just need line diameter and I can see what I have. They are great for wire harnesses too.

This is what I use them for…

Wow you guys are really moving through the install for a first attempt! Great work.

Euro - those Adel clamps look perfect for this application. I just had oil cooler lines done under warranty. I would be interested to hear from the team regarding the use of these for the stock RS4 oil cooler.
